     Clayton Earl Slade was born on December 25, 1886 in Michigan his father was born in New York, his mother in Michigan.^1,2,3 He was the son of Charles L. Slade and Ella Russell.^4,5
     Clayton married Rae E. Mayberry circa 1914 in Valley County, Montana.⁶ Clayton Earl Slade was registered for the military draft in World War I on September 12, 1918 in Nielsen, Phillips County, Montana, He was a farmer.² Clayton died on September 1, 1968 in Yellowstone County, Montana, at age 81¹ and was buried in Malta Cemetery, Phillips County, Montana.⁷

     Rae E. Mayberry was born on February 2, 1898 in Montana.^1,3
     Rae married Clayton Earl Slade, son of Charles L. Slade and Ella Russell, circa 1914 in Valley County, Montana.¹ Rae died in May, 1979 in Billings, Yellowstone County, Montana, at age 81.³

     Dale C. Slade was born on June 9, 1914 in Montana.^1,2 He was the son of Clayton Earl Slade and Rae E. Mayberry.¹
     Dale married Merry Sunshine Simanton, daughter of Thomas Simanton, on November 4, 1938 in Glasgow, Valley County, Montana.³ Dale died on July 9, 1939 in Phillips County, Montana, at age 25.⁴ He was buried in Malta Cemetery, Phillips County, Montana.²

     Donald Elwood Slade was born on June 9, 1915 in Montana.^1,2 He was the son of Clayton Earl Slade and Rae E. Mayberry.¹ Donald Elwood Slade enlisted to serve in World War II on April 21, 1942 in Missoula, Missoula County, Montana, to serve as a Private in the Army.³
     Donald married Juanita Weeks.⁴ Donald died in August, 1980 in Pima County, Arizona, at age 65.² He was buried in Malta Cemetery, Phillips County, Montana.⁵

     Earl J. Slade was born on October 9, 1922 in Malta, Phillips County, Montana.^1,2 He was the son of Clayton Earl Slade and Rae E. Mayberry.¹
     Earl married Frances Armstrong on June 12, 1948², the daughter of Olga Bergerson & William Armstrong.³ Earl J. Slade died on July 20, 2011 at his home in Malta. at age 88² and was buried in Malta Cemetery, Phillips County, Montana.² His obituary read as follows:

      Earl Slade, 88, a World War II veteran, and retired farmer and rancher, died of natural causes Wednesday, July 20, at his home in Malta.
     Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Malta Lutheran Church, followed by burial with military honors in Malta Cemetery. Kirk-wood Funeral Chapel of Malta is in charge of arrangements.
     He is survived by his wife Frances; his sons, Dale (Joelyn) and Bud (Beth), both of Malta; daughters Laurel "Sis" Mann of Butte, and Kathy Sorbel of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; brother Mac (Joann) Slade; and sister Tonya (Edward) Waldhauser, both of Billings; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
     Earl was born in Malta on Oct. 9, 1922, to Clayton and Rae Slade. He was raised on a farm in the Loring area, then in 1930 moved to Malta, where he attended school until leaving to do two years in the Civilian Conservation Corps.
     He worked in Anchorage, Alaska, until he went to the Army Air Corps during World War II, where he was a gunner.
     
He married Frances Armstrong on June 12, 1948. He was self-employed and worked in earth moving, and farming/ranching.
     Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Rae Slade; brothers Dale and Don; sister Patricia; great-grandson Joshua Mann; and sons-in-law Smuck Mann and Greg Sorbel.²

     Frances Armstrong was born on December 23, 1927 in Phillips County, Montana,^2,3, the daughter of Olga Bergerson & William Armstrong.³
     Frances married Earl J. Slade, son of Clayton Earl Slade and Rae E. Mayberry, on June 12, 1948.¹ Frances Armstrong was living in July, 2016 in Malta, Phillips County, Montana.⁴ Frances died on September 12, 2018 at age 90.² She was buried in Malta Cemetery, Phillips County, Montana.^2,3

     James H. Slade was born on August 31, 1829 in Ontario County, New York.^1,2
     James married Laura Jane Hoag on August 21, 1850.² James was widowed when his wife, Laura, died in 1875.²
     James married second Margaret Ann Douglas on January 22, 1876.^2,3 James died on June 19, 1903 in Fremont, Steuben County, Indiana, at age 73.² His obituary read as follows:

      Rev. James H. Slade was born in Farmington, New York, August 31, 1829, and died in Fremont, Indiana, June 19, 1903.

He was married August 31, 1850 to Laura Hoag, who died in 1875. He was again united in marriage to Margaret Everhart, Jan. 22, 1876, she having died on Dec. 23, 1898. Mr. Slade was converted in early manhood and while living upon his farm near Alvarado, entered the ministry of the North Indiana Conference Methodist Episcopal church, and was appointed to the new Corydon charge in 1862. He also served the following charges: Allen, Ossian, Harlan, Akron, Larwill and Middlebury. He retired in 1878 from the active ministry, after 11 years of labor, and again took up his residence upon his farm near Alvarado, where he lived until 1883, when he with his family moved to Angola, where he lived until his wife died.

About three years ago he went to Fremont, where he made his home with his daughter until his death. Surviving him are four sons and one daughter. Mrs. Williams, a granddaughter, when a child lived with him, and she, with three other grandchildren also survive.

For years, Father Slade had been a loyal Christian worker, faithful to the cause, and devoted to the church. He was a member of the Epworth League and Sunday school, and took an active part in each service he was able to attend. While in Fremont he has acted as Class Leader, and was always loyal to his pastor. By his death, the community loses a good citizen, the church a devoted Christian brother.

The funeral services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. F. A. Reichelderfer, at the M. E. church in Fremont, on Monday morning at 9 o'clock, and interment at Richland Center cemetery.

     Ida married Charles P. Slade, son of Russell Slade and Martha Walker, on March 9, 1881 in Maple Grove, Barry County, Michigan.¹

     Charles P. Slade was born in January, 1853 in Michigan [1920 census indicates his parents were born in New York].² He was the son of Russell Slade and Martha Walker.³
     Charles married Ida Almina Stewart on March 9, 1881 in Maple Grove, Barry County, Michigan.⁴ Charles P. Slade was living in 1911 in Fort Benton, Chouteau County, Montana; Polk pg 183, Ida & Charles P Slade, homesteader, Beulah S, school teacher.⁵ Charles died on February 12, 1923 at age 70.

     Jessie C. Slade went by J. C.² He was born on December 12, 1920 in Louisiana.¹
     Jessie married Rosa Mae Jones.² She was the daughter of Alfred N. and Julia Jones of Baskin, Louisiana.² Jessie died on October 16, 1996 in Baskin, Franklin Parish, Louisiana, at age 75¹ and was buried in Lone Cherry Cemetery, Mangham, Richland Parish, Louisiana.³

     Rosa Mae Jones was born on January 8, 1924 in Franklin Parish, Louisiana.¹ She was the daughter of Alfred N. and Julia Jones of Baskin, Louisiana.¹
     Rosa married Jessie C. Slade.¹ Rosa was widowed when her husband, Jessie, died on October 16, 1996 in Baskin, Franklin Parish, Louisiana, at age 75.² Rosa died on June 29, 2011 in Monroe, Ouachita Parish, Louisiana, at age 87¹ and was buried in Lone Cherry Cemetery, Mangham, Richland Parish, Louisiana.^1,3 Her obituary read as follows:

      Funeral services for Rosa Mae Slade, 87 of Baskin, LA will be held at Baskin Baptist Church on Friday, July 1, 2011 at 10:00 am with Rev. Marion Spence officiating. Interment will follow at Lone Cherry Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial.

Rosa Slade was born on January 8, 1924 in Baskin, Louisiana and passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at St. Frances Specialty Hospital in Monroe. She was a resident of Baskin, and a member of Baskin Baptist Church. She taught 7th and 8th grade at The Baskin School. Rosa was a member of the Ladies Shriners.

She was also survived by 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

The Pallbearers will be -Jeremy Slade, Ken Sturdivant, Nolan Cowart, Robert Bazes, Shannon Slade and Shay Slade.¹

     Charles married second Lavina L. Hill, daughter of David J. Hill and Mary J. Batton, on November 27, 1913 in Dowagiac, Otsego County, Michigan.^7,8 Charles died on April 3, 1936 in Gaylord, Otsego County, Michigan, at age 87.² He was buried in Fairview Cemetery, Gaylord, Otsego County, Michigan.²

     Lavina married first Ervin C. [or Edwin] French circa 1878.² Lavina L. Hill was naturalized in 1913.³

     Eva May Slade was born circa 1872 in Michigan.¹ She was the daughter of Charles Mortimer Slade and Roxanna Calista Hoskins.¹
     Eva married Herbert A. Roberts, son of Edward B. Roberts and Charlotte Johnson, on May 7, 1890 in Flint, Genesee County, Michigan.² Eva May Slade and Herbert A. Roberts were divorced on May 23, 1913 in Otsego County, Michigan.³ Eva died on October 25, 1954 in Fresno County, California.⁴

     Roxanna Calista Hoskins was born in November, 1848 in Medina County, Ohio.^4,1 She was the daughter of Ephraim Hoskins and Lenora Lewis.⁵ Both of her parents were born in Canada.⁴
     Roxanna married Charles Mortimer Slade, son of Orin Lafayette Slade and Phoebe Pettis, on May 11, 1869 in Saginaw County, Michigan.¹ Roxanna is shown to be the mother of 8 children, 6 of whom are still living.⁴ Roxanna died on November 9, 1901.^3,6 She was buried in Fairview Cemetery, Gaylord, Otsego County, Michigan.³

     Ernest Majen Slade was born on April 13, 1876 in Genesee County, Michigan.^3,4 He was the son of Charles Mortimer Slade and Roxanna Calista Hoskins.¹
     Ernest married Martha C. St. Charles on June 22, 1902.⁵ Ernest Majen Slade was registered for the military draft in World War I on September 12, 1918 in Newberry, Luce County, Michigan.⁴ Ernest died on March 23, 1958 at age 81⁶ and was buried in Fairview Cemetery, Gaylord, Otsego County, Michigan.⁷
