     Thomas married Annne Whelan, daughter of Edward Whelan and Eva [?], on August 16, 1958 in Syracuse, New York.3 Thomas died on March 12, 1987 at age 56.4 He was buried in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse, Onondaga County, New York.4 His obituary read as follows:

      Thomas E. Slade, 55, of 1815 W. Genesee St. died Thursday at his home after apparently suffering a heart attack.Mr. Slade was a life resident of Syracuse. He was employed with the city school district.He was a graduate of Vocational High School and Syracuse University.Mr. Slade was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. He was an avid golfer and played in many local tournaments, including the Herald-Journal Amateur. An Air Force veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Slade was a member of the Tipperary Hill American Legion Post and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 348.Surviving are two daughters, Mary Beth VanAntwerp and Diane M. Lischak, both of Syracuse; his father, Earl R. Slade of Syracuse; three sisters, Joan McEneny and Carol S. Doyle, both of Camillus, and Barbara S. Donovan of Westvale; and several nieces and nephews.Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Whelan Bros.       Joan M (Slade) McEneny, 82, of Camillus passed away peacefully, Wednesday morning surrounded by the deep love of her family.
Joan was born in Syracuse, to Earl and Elizabeth Slade in Tipperary Hill. She graduated from St. Patrick's High School in 1952 and then received her dental hygienist degree at Rochester Eastman Dental.
Joan is predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Dr. Edward McEneny and their baby George, her parents, Earl and Elizabeth Slade, siblings, Besty McKenney and Thomas Slade. She is survived by her 4 children, Kathleen of Colorado, Tim (Sue) McEneny of North Carolina, Colleen (Mark) Waite of Marcellus, NY and Martin McEneny of Syracuse, NY. Joan adored and loved her grandchildren with all her heart. Grandma will be missed by Joshua, Nathan, Alicia, Justin, Erin and Thomas and her 2 great grandchildren, Winston and Allana Waite. Joan is also survived by her sisters, Carol (John) Doyle and Barbara Donavan, sister-in-law, Ann Slade, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joan worked as a dental hygienist for Syracuse Schools and at her husband's dental office. She was an active member of Holy Family Church. Over the years she taught C.C.D, sang in the choir, volunteered in the Altar Rosary Society, bingo, funeral committee and as eucharistic minister. Joan was a member of Bellevue Country Club and loved her golf league. She also loved meeting the girls there for lunch. One of Joan's favorite past times was spending time with family and friends at their camp on Otisco Lake.
Joan's funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at 10am at Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Fairmount. Calling hours will be on Monday from 5 to 7pm at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. Burial will be in Onondaga County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.
