     Rosville Pulasi Slade was born on March 14, 1852 in Southampton County, Virginia.^1,3 He was the son of Joseph Patrick Slade and Mary Anne Pond.¹
     Rosville married Nancy L. Bulls on February 17, 1881 in Virginia [license was issued on the 15th but marriage on 17th].⁴

     Sarah Elizabeth Slade was born on April 2, 1854 in Southampton County, Virginia.^2,1 She was the daughter of Joseph Patrick Slade and Mary Anne Pond.² Sarah died on April 27, 1864 in Virginia at age 10.¹

     Mary Ada Slade was born on August 8, 1856 in Southampton County, Virginia.^1,2 She was the daughter of Joseph Patrick Slade and Mary Anne Pond.¹
     Mary married William Drew Pond Jr., son of William Drew Pond Sr and Julia Kitchen, on February 12, 1879 in Virginia. Mary signed her will on Sep 5, 1922, leading us to believe that she likely died in the next few months.³ Mary Ada Slade Southampton County, Virginia

In the name of God amen, I do make this my Last Will and Testament.
1. I want all my just debts paid and burial expenses.
2. All the indebtedness of my estate is to be paid out of my ChattelEstate.
3. I want my son LONNIE J. POND to have 1 horse or mule or one hundreddollars just
as he likes.
4. I want LONNIE , JOE and ROGER, these three boys to have one featherbed each.
5. I want the rest of my Chattel Estate sold and equally divided afterall my debts paid.
6. At my death I give all of my real estate to LONNIE J. POND, JOSEPH L.POND and
ROGER E. POND equally divided with these three boys.
7. The Chattel Estate is to be sold and equally divided with all of mychildren after what I
have willed out and doesn't take to pay burial expenses and just debts.
8. I want my son LONNIE J. POND to minister on my estate with outsecurity.

A writing purporting to be the Last Will and Testament of ADA M.POND, deceased,
was produced in this office for probate and proved by the oaths of J. Q.HANCOCK and
C. C. TRAVIS, two of the subscribing witnesses thereto, who depose to saythat they
signed said writing in the presence of each other, in the presence of thetestatrix and at her
request, all being present at the same time. Whereupon the said writingis ordered to be
recorded as and for the Last Will and Testament of the said ADA M. PONDdeceased.
Now, therefore, on motion of LONNIE J. POND, who made oath accordingto law,
entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of eight hundreddollars, but without
security, the Will directing that none be required, which said bond isconditioned and
payable according to law, and is ordered to be recorded. Leave is grantedthe said
LONNIE J. POND, executor, for obtaining a probate of said will in dueform.
And on motion of said executor, J. Q. HANCOCK, C. C. TRAVIS, HERMAN
RAWLINGS, RUFUS DREWRY and ORIS CORNWELL, any three of whom may act,
are hereby appointed appraisers, who will, after being duly sworn,appraise the estate of
said decedent and return the same under their hands as the law directs.

     Martha J Womble was known as Mary.² She was born in August, 1852 in Virginia.^1,3
     Martha married John Oris Slade, son of Joseph Patrick Slade and Mary Anne Pond, on February 10, 1875 in Southampton County, Virginia.²

     Charles Hudson Slade was known as Charlie. He was born on January 4, 1876 in Southampton County, Virginia.^2,1 He was the son of John Oris Slade and Martha J Womble.³
     Charles married Lucy B Warren on April 20, 1898 in Virginia.^4,2 Charles Hudson Slade was registered for the military draft in World War I on September 12, 1918 in Virginia.¹ He resided in Manry, Southampton County, Virginia, on September 12, 1918.¹ Charles died on December 13, 1937 in Virginia at age 61.⁵ He was buried in Millfield Baptist Church Cemetery, Southampton County, Virginia.⁶

     Joseph Walter Slade was born on June 8, 1859 in Southampton County, Virginia.² He was the son of Joseph Patrick Slade and Mary Anne Pond.¹ Joseph died on December 31, 1868 in Virginia at age 9.²

     Edward Slade was born in 1797 in Millbrook, Hampshire, England.² He was the son of James Slade and Sarah [?].² Edward Slade was baptized on September 3, 1797.² He was New Tag circa 1802 in Millbrook, Hampshire.¹
     Edward married Harriette Atwood on January 7, 1822 in Alverstoke, Hampshire, England,¹, the daughter of Hannah Kezia Meacher & Francis Attwood.³

     Alonzo Nicholas Slade was born on May 12, 1861 in Southampton County, Virginia.^1,2 He was the son of Joseph Patrick Slade and Mary Anne Pond.¹ Alonzo died on August 9, 1882 in Virginia at age 21 of typhoid fever.^3,4,2

     Nancy Lee Slade was known as Nannie.² She was born on September 13, 1863 in Southampton County, Virginia.^3,4 She was the daughter of Joseph Patrick Slade and Mary Anne Pond.¹
     Nancy married John Bunyen Hedgepath on March 28, 1884 in Virginia.^3,4 Nancy died on September 4, 1921 in Richmond, Virginia, at age 57² and was buried in Millfield Baptist Church Cemetery, Southampton County, Virginia.⁵ Her obituary was published Sep 21, 1921 in The Tidewater News, Franklin, VA, and read as follows:

     Mrs. Nannie Slade Hedgepeth, the beloved wife of Mr. J.B. Hedgepeth of the Sedley community, died in Memorial Hospital, Richmond, Sunday, September 4, 1921, in the fifty-eighth year of her life. The body was brought to her home the following day and the funeral services were conducted Tuesday, September 6, by Rev. W.B. Fuller of the Ivor Christian Church, assisted by Dr. C.H. Rowland of the Franklin Christian Church, and Rev. A.E. Cloud of Corinth Friends Church.

The deceased was widely loved throughout her home community where she had spent her life and had given herself freely for her family, friends and neighbors. She was a noble woman of many exemplary and enduring qualities and had been since girlhood a faithful and consistent member of Barrett’s Christian Church, loyal to the church of her faith and to the teachings of the Master.

In the immediate family she is survived by her husband, three daughters and two sons, and in the neighborhood a host of warm personal friends will feel keenly the loss to earth of this good woman. The floral tributes laid on her grave by many loving hands were eloquent witnesses of the life she had lived and the service she had wrought.²

     William W. Slade was born on July 2, 1866 in Southampton County, Virginia.^2,3 He was the son of Joseph Patrick Slade and Mary Anne Pond.¹ William died on August 24, 1882 in Virginia at age 16 The cause of death was typhoid fever.^2,4

     Claudia A. Slade was born on August 28, 1868 in Southampton County, Virginia.² She was the daughter of Joseph Patrick Slade and Mary Anne Pond.¹ Claudia died on September 29, 1871 in Virginia at age 3.^2,3

     Grizza Ann Pond was born circa 1813 in Southampton County, Virginia.^2,1 She was the daughter of James Pond and Parmelia Wellons.¹
     Grizza married Joseph Patrick Slade, son of John P. Slade, on December 24, 1834 in Virginia.^3,4 Grizza died on September 6, 1842 in Virginia.^4,1

     James D. Doyle was born in December, 1834 in Southampton County, Virginia.¹
     James married Catherine J. Slade, daughter of Joseph Patrick Slade and Grizza Ann Pond, on November 11, 1856 in Virginia.¹

     Edward Thomas Ellsworth was born circa 1847 in Virginia.¹
     Edward married Louisa Anne Slade, daughter of Joseph Patrick Slade and Mary Anne Pond.¹

     John Bunyen Hedgepath was born on February 22, 1856 in Southampton County, Virginia.¹ He was the son of Jensie Jane Johnson and John W. Hedgepeth.
     John married Nancy Lee Slade, daughter of Joseph Patrick Slade and Mary Anne Pond, on March 28, 1884 in Virginia.^1,2 John died on December 4, 1926 in Virginia at age 70² and was buried in Millfield Baptist Church Cemetery, Southampton County, Virginia.³

     Lucy B Warren was born on October 1, 1866 in Southampton County, Virginia.²
     Lucy married Charles Hudson Slade, son of John Oris Slade and Martha J Womble, on April 20, 1898 in Virginia.^1,3 Lucy died on December 13, 1937 in Virginia at age 71.² She was buried in Millfield Baptist Church Cemetery, Southampton County, Virginia.^2,4

     Lizzie M. Slade was born on April 11, 1906 in Southampton County, Virginia.^1,2 She was the daughter of Charles Hudson Slade and Lucy B Warren.¹
     Lizzie married Herman Washington Wade.² Lizzie died on February 26, 1992 at age 85.² She was buried in Millfield Baptist Church Cemetery, Southampton County, Virginia.²

     Bessie Mae Slade was born on October 11, 1890 in Southampton County, Virginia.^2,3 She was the daughter of John Oris Slade and Martha J Womble.⁴
     Bessie married Claude Eagerton Hines.³ Bessie died on July 31, 1972 at age 81 and was buried in Ivor Cemetery, Southampton County, Virginia.³

     Mattie L. Slade was born on December 2, 1882 in Southampton County, Virginia.^2,3 She was the daughter of John Oris Slade and Martha J Womble.⁴
     Mattie married Andrew J. Warren in 1896 in Virginia.^2,3 The 1910 census indicates that she was mother of 7 children, 4 are living.⁵ Mattie died on April 26, 1974 at age 91.³ She was buried in Millfield Baptist Church Cemetery, Southampton County, Virginia.³

     Andrew J. Warren was born on October 13, 1870 in Virginia.² He was the son of Annie Ellsworth and Willie Thomas Warren.³
     Andrew married Mattie L. Slade, daughter of John Oris Slade and Martha J Womble, in 1896 in Southampton County, Virginia.^4,5 Andrew died on March 27, 1945 at age 74² and was buried in Millfield Baptist Church Cemetery, Southampton County, Virginia.²

     Myrle L. Slade was born circa 1916 in Arkansas.¹ She was the daughter of James Gideon Slade and Rachael Lavinia Crumley.¹
     Myrle married Ray H. Moser.² Myrle died on August 9, 2005.² She was buried in Oaklawn Cemetery, Batesville, Independence County, Arkansas.²

     Mary E. Murphrey was born in 1838 in Alabama.³
     Mary married Thomas J. Slade, son of E. H. Slade and Mary [?].¹
