Edward J. Slade Slade of Gladwyne, PA died December 13, 2012 at Bryn Mawr Hospital of natural causes. He was born in 1918 in Philadelphia, PA, which he always considered his home in spite of military travels which included Korea, Guam, Alaska, Germany, and many US states. He retired after 20 years in the US Army, then worked another 20 years for the US government in procuring supplies for the military. Ed loved to go antique-ing; he said he enjoyed his treasures three times, once at the time of purchase, again while restoring them to their deserved glory, and finally at the time of resale. He was a strong, physically active man, and even in his early 80's was often seen outside his home trimming trees or raking leaves. Ed was predeceased by Laura, his wife of 63 years, his son Edward Jr., and three siblings. He is survived by his sister Stella, his daughter Sandra and husband Steve, his daughter-in-law Sharon, three grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 9:00 am at Waverly Heights, a place Ed enjoyed for the last ten years of his life. Burial will take place at Valley Forge Cemetery.
