Whitesboro David J. Slade, 69, of Whitesboro, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, from of lung cancer.
He was born in Utica, NY, on January 15, 1943, the son of the late Ge ne vie ve and Herbert Slade. He was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales class of 1960. He married Marcia Hahn on April 4, 1964, and enjoyed a blessed union of 48 years.
He was Vice President for Pacemaker-Millar of Utica, NY, for the past 30 years and was a 50-year employee who was working up until the time of his death. David loved working at Pacemaker-Millar and cherished all the friendships he created over his many years of service. He was an avid sports fan of golf and enjoyed watching the Yankees, Giants and Syracuse Basketball.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Allen Svitak, of Marcy, and Michelle and Robert Trzcinski, of Whitesboro; and four grandchildren, Ryan and Brendan Svitak and Kaitlyn and Alexander Trzcinski.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff on the 6th floor at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare and Dr. DeTraglia, Dr. Butala and Dr. Soults for all the compassionate care that was given to David.
Funeral will be on Monday at 11:30 at St. Paul's Church where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, Forty Main St., Whitesboro.
