     Ellis Richard Slade was born on April 15, 1910 in La Junta, Otero County, Colorado.2 He was the son of Albert Richard Slade and Mattie Belle Davis.1,2
     Ellis married Edwina S. Sedillo.3 Ellis was widowed when his wife, Edwina, died circa 1942.3
     Ellis married Mary Agnes Hidalgo in Nevada.4 Agnes was the daughter of Maria Celsa Ortiz and Alfredo Hidalgo.5 Ellis died on June 24, 2002 in Kent, King County, Washington, at age 92.6 His obituary read as follows:

      Ellis Richard Slade of Kent died June 24, 2002, in Kent. He was 92. Born April 15, 1910, in La Junta, Colo., Mr. Slade lived in the South County area for 58 years. He worked as a machinist at Pacific Car and Foundry and owned Slade Machine Shop, retiring in the 1960s. He was a trapeze artist and enjoyed bowling, motorcycle riding, and flying his small airplane.
     Mr. Slade was preceded in death by his first wife, Edwina S. Slade, in 1942, and second wife, Mary A. Slade, in 1983.
     He is survived by his sons, Albert Slade of San Diego, Calif; Gilbert Hidalgo of Dixon, Calif. and Frank Slade of New York City; daughters Reina McLean of San Diego, Dolores Hidalgo Della Vecchia of North Babylon, N.Y., Violet Marshall of Renton, Barbara Hitchcock of Bellevue, Sherry Holder of Sumner and Donna Adams of Corvallis, Ore; brothers Sam Becker and George Becker, both of Texas; sisters Margaret Atwell and Mabel Chute, both of Texas; 26 grandchildren; and 42 great-grandchildren.
     Visitation will be held from 2-7 p.m. today at Marlatt Funeral Home in Kent, followed by recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Des Moines. Burial will be at Gethsemane Cemetery in Federal Way. published in South County Journal (Kent, WA) - June 27, 20023
and was buried in Gethsemane Cemetery, Federal Way, King County, Washington.7

     James married Samantha Ford, daughter of Sylvester Ford and Lydia Olmstead Reed.1 James Slade and his wife, Samantha, came from Westerlo, Albany County and settled on a farm of 114+ acres, located in Meredith, Delaware County. In 1830, he sold this farm and purchased another property since known as "Deacon Slade Farm."2 The First Baptist society of Oneonta, NY was organized April 6, 1833. At a meeting called for that purpose, David Yager was chosen moderator and James Slade clerk.3 William George, 23, b NY, farmhand, living with Slade family.1 James died on June 13, 18834 and was buried in Riverside Cemetery, Oneonta, Otsego County, New York.5

     Sherrill married Emily Smith on February 6, 1850.3,2 [Sherrill was apparently enumerated as "Charles" in the 1850 census].4 Sherrill Lewis Slade was a foundry man.5 He made a will on November 11, 1900 M; leaving all of his personal and real property to his wife, Emily Slade, during her lifetime. Upon Emily's death, his farm in Franklin, Delaware Co, NY known as "Alfred Rathbun Farm" to son Dewitt F Slade and to daughter Carrie A Rathbun, his lot and house at 12 Watkins Ave, Oneonta, NY and $2,000. All other property to be divided equally between his two children aforementioned. He apponts his son-in-law Grenville A Rathun of Oneonta to be Executer of his will. Witness was brother Hamilton F Slade. His will was probated Dec 20, 1900.6 Sherrill died in December, 1900 at age 72.1,6

     Claudia married Dallas W. Lassiter, son of Robert Alexander Lassiter and Lorena Claxton, on April 5, 1937 in Sharp County, Arkansas. [intended marriage]3
     Claudia married second Van Newell Dale on February 19, 1948.4 Claudia died on June 3, 1989 at age 71 [tombstone has Jun 21, 1989].5,2 She was buried in Desert Lawn Memorial Park, Yuma County, Arizona.2

Medrith Stroud1

     Medrith Stroud was born on January 24, 1920 in Mount Pleasant, Arkansas,2, the daughter of Laura Magdalene Hightower & Espy Madison Stroud.2
     Medrith married Richard Franklin Slade, son of James Gideon Slade and Rachael Lavinia Crumley, on August 17, 1938 in Sharp County, Arkansas.1,3 Medrith died on December 19, 2003 at age 83.2 She was buried in Big Spring Cemetery, Mount Pleasant, Izzard County, Arkansas.2 Her obituary read as follows:

      SIDNEY - Medrith Slade, 83, of Sidney died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, in a Sidney nursing home.

Born Jan. 24, 1920, at Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of Espy Madison Stroud and Laura Magdalene Hightower Stroud. She was a homemaker and a member of Concord Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Royce Slade of Sidney; a daughter, Lois Rasmussen of Sidney; two sisters, Irene Goode of Mount Pleasant and Claudia Borst of Arizona; four grandchildren, Brad Slade and Diane Drinkard, both of Sidney, Sheryl Thompson of Batesville and Dana Porte of St. Petersburg, Fla; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Slade; two brothers, Max Stroud and Homer Stroud; and two sisters, Johnnie Sattley and Grace Farthing.

The funeral was at 10 a.m. today at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home Chapel in Melbourne with Jim Black officiating. Burial was in Big Springs Cemetery at Sidney.

Pallbearers were Brad Slade, Paul Slade, Curt Thompson, Jon Thompson, Noel Porte and Tony Drinkard.
