Franklin married Isabelle Jane Turner on January 16, 1893 in Grace Church, Hutchinson, Reno County, Kansas, Isabel was a widow, whose first husband was named Campbell.2
Soon after 1900, the family moved to Rialto, California where Franklin engaged in the citus industry, clearing & planting 20 acres located on Willow & Foothill Blvd. In Rialto. He was secretary of the Lytle Creek Water & Impro. C Co. until moving to Redlands, Cal. in 1910. In 1913 he disposed of the cistus interests & in 1914 moved to Los Angeles, Ca. where he resided until 1925 when he and his family moved to Pasadena. Franklin was widowed when his wife, Isabelle, died in 1935.3 Franklin died on February 26, 1938 in Pasadena at age 84. He was buried in San Gabriel Cemetery, Los Angeles County, California.4,5

Mary Blake was born circa 1794 in England.1
Mary married Edward Walker Slade, son of William Slade and Sarah [?], on July 3, 1814 in Gloucester, England.2 The entire family immigrated from Bristol, England to the United States aboard the Barque Woodman arriving on July 7, 1834. The family included Edward and Mary Slade (ages 42, and 40) and their children Anthony age 18, Clara age 15, Emma age 14, Mary age 13, Robert age 12 and Horatio age 10.1 Mary died on January 20, 1863 in Cuyahoga County, Ohio.

Nina Beatrice Slade1
(9 June 1895 - 28 March 1975)
Nina Beatrice Slade was born on June 9, 1895 in McPherson, Kansas. She was the daughter of Franklin Slade and Isabelle Jane Turner. At the age of four, Nina survived an epidemic of diphtheria which left her blind in one eye and deaf in one ear, here parents decided to move to Rialto, California for the climate. Nina would attend elementary school in Rialto, and when she reached high school age her parents moved to Redlands, California. where she graduated from Redlands High School in 1914. Following graduation Nina & her parents moved to Los Angeles, where Nina attended nursing school at Angelus Hospital, which had been hailed as the finest in L.A. when it was built in 1905. After 3 years Nina received her nursing certificate.
Nina married Henry Frederick Preston on January 21, 1921. They moved to Pasadena where they raised two children. Nina never practiced nursing, but she always kept her credential current. Nina died on March 28, 1975 in Whittier, Los Angeles County, California, at age 79. She was buried in Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, Los Angeles County, California.2
