     William Charles Slade was known as Willie. He was born on January 22, 1878 in Georgia both parents born Georgia.1,3 He was the son of Jeremiah Slade Jr. and Penelope J. Williams.4 He was listed as Charles in the 1880 census, but when a child was called Willie by family and friends.
     William married Carrie Christena Wootten on December 15, 1909 in Wilcox County, Georgia.2 William Charles Slade was registered for the military draft in World War I on September 12, 1918 in Georgia.3 Owners to Buy Back Town Sold at Auction
Pineview, GA Sep 4 (AP)
W. C. Slade, businessman, who bought the town of Plainview at auction, promptly arranged Wednesday for the original owners to buy it back on terms.
The town was sold under a judgement from a United States Court on a suit involving an issue of school bonds. Principal and interest on the bonds amounted to an estimated $18,000. Slade paid $8,000.50 for the property. Taxpayers will repay Slade over a priod of time.
Published in The Oklahoman newspaper on Sept 5, 1940, page 11.5 William died on May 25, 1946 in Georgia at age 68.6

     Dorothy married Franklin Stebin Horne.3 Dorothy died on October 15, 2012 at age 90.3 Her obituary read as follows:

      Dorothy Slade "Miss Dot" Horne Cordele, GA- Funeral services for Dorothy Slade "Miss Dot" Horne will be held Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at Cordele First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, 162 Crisp Academy Drive, off of GA Hwy 300 in Crisp County. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, 2012 at the funeral home.
A native of Cordele, "Miss Dot" died on Monday, Oct. 15, 2012 at her residence at the age of 90. She was a member of the Cordele First Baptist Church, a charter member of Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers Society, a member and teacher of the Merry Sunday School Class. She also was the official score keeper for Cordele Little League and for the 1956 Georgia State Little League Championship. She was involved in the farming and timber industry along with pond management. She was an avid sports fan, especially following closely the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs.
"Miss Dot" was a teacher for the Crisp County Board of Education for 34 years. She was selected as the first Teacher of the Year in Crisp County. She was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, now known as Georgia College & State University.
The widow of Franklin Stebin Horne, Sr., "Miss Dot" was the daughter of the late Jeremiah Obediah Slade and the late Jennie Cornelia Fullerton Slade. She is also preceded in death by her siblings: Irene Slade Williams, Rosa Slade Williams, Ruth Slade, Ethel Slade Spears, J. H. Slade and Harold Slade.
She is survived by her children: Jency Carpenter, and her husband Larry, of Albany and Franklin S. Horne, Jr. and his wife Pat, of Macon; her grandchildren: Dottie Carpenter of Albany, Casey Tumlin and her husband Charles of Beaufort, S.C., Laurie Lee Cranford and her husband Dr. Jay of Macon, F. Stebin Horne, III of Atlanta, and Jay Carpenter and his wife Jenni of Albany; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dot Smith, Vera Rockwell, Laura Bivins, Nettie Little and United Hospice for their love, care, concern and dedication to "Miss Dot's" care.
The Dot Horne-Elizabeth Williams Scholarship Fund for Teachers, through Delta Kappa Gamma at 301 Cedar Lake Circle, Cordele, GA 31015, has been established for those wishing to contribute in her memory.
