     Mary Etta Slade was born on August 6, 1905 in Crisp County, Georgia.¹ She was the daughter of Jeremiah Obediah Slade and Leila Savannah Raines.² Mary died on September 26, 1907 at age 2.¹ She was buried in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, Cordele, Crisp County, Georgia.¹

     Mildred Slade was born on September 20, 1903 in Crisp County, Georgia.^1,2 She was the daughter of Jerry Slade and Sabra Elizabeth Mims.¹ She was not married. Mildred died on February 18, 1947 at age 43³ and was buried in Sunnyside Cemetery, Cordele, Crisp County, Georgia.

     Nancy Jane Slade was born on January 14, 1838 in Dooly County, Georgia.¹ She was the daughter of William Slade and Margaret Ann Sutton.¹
     Nancy married Richard E. Herrington on May 1, 1856.² Nancy died circa 1865 in Georgia.³

     Oscar McKinney Slade Jr. was known as Bucky. He was born on April 19, 1936 in Crisp County, Georgia.¹ He was the son of Oscar McKinney Slade Sr. and Catherine Kirkland Brown.²
     Oscar married first Martiel Annquinette Bridges in December, 1956.^3,4
     Oscar married second Nancy Head.⁵
     Oscar married first Susan Cunningham Ambercrombie.¹ Oscar died on April 23, 2009 in Pinehurst, Dooly County, Georgia, at age 73.⁵ He was buried in Sunnyside Cemetery, Cordele, Crisp County, Georgia.⁶ His obituary read as follows:

      An Americus man is dead after the single engine plane he had just landed flipped over near the intersection of Calhoun and Sandy Creek Roads here.

Oscar M. "Bucky" Slade who grew up in Crisp County and has been piloting small planes for a number of years had landed on a grass airstrip belonging to David Chancy about 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

As the plane taxied north on the runway toward Calhoun Rd., it suddenly veered to the left, crossed Sandy Creek Rd. and flipped over in the edge of an adjacent field, according to Dooly Sheriff's Investigator Randy Lamberth.

George Merritt who arrived on the scene shortly after the crash said Slade was still strapped in his seat and had his helmet on following impact.

When the plane veered, "there was no evidence the pilot had attempted to correct," Merritt said. That led him to speculate that Slade was unconscious when the aircraft left the runway.

Lamberth said the cause of the crash was undetermined late Thursday afternoon. He did add, however, that the body had been sent for an autopsy.

The sheriff's investigator said Slade had just finished putting out a load of spray and was on the ground when the plane veered and flipped.

Merritt said another pilot had landed at the airstrip shortly before Slade came in, and that pilot remarked that Slade had "tipped his wing" at him.

Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Safety Transportation Board (NSTB) were on the scene Thursday afternoon to investigate the accident, Lamberth said.

Someone from the company that made the plane also was scheduled to come inspect the plane.

Funeral services for Slade are scheduled for Sunday, April 26, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home in Cordele. He was the son of the late Oscar McKinney Slade Sr. and Catherine Brown Slade of Crisp County.

Slade was married to Nancy Head Slade of Americus. He has seven children and three siblings, Richmond Slade of Norcross, Russell Slade and Penelope Coleman, both of Cordele.

     Oscar McKinney Slade Sr. was born on September 28, 1904 in Crisp County, Georgia.^1,2 He was the son of Thomas Jefferson Slade and Sara Jane McKinney.³

     Peggy Ann Slade was born on September 21, 1871 in Dooly County, Georgia.¹ She was the daughter of Jeremiah Zachariah Slade and Emily Hartie Smith.² Peggy Ann Slade was New Tag in September, 1872 in Georgia.²
     Peggy married James Luther Raines.³ Peggy died on May 17, 1923 in Sumter County, Georgia, at age 51.⁴ She was buried in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, Cordele, Crisp County, Georgia.⁵

     Robert L Slade Jr. was known as Bob. He was born on September 11, 1917 in Pulaski County, Georgia.¹ He was New Tag in 1919 in Georgia.² He was the son of Robert Lee Slade and Annie Lena Hollingsworth.²
     Robert married Clarice Thornton, daughter of Rev. Joseph Archie Thornton and Lucille Young.^3,4 Robert died on May 20, 1965 and was buried in Orange Hill Cemetery, Hawkinsville, Pulaski County, Georgia.¹

     Robert Lee Slade was born on August 17, 1889 in Georgia.^1,2,3 He was the son of Jeremiah Slade Jr. and Sallie M. McKinney.⁴
     Robert married Annie Lena Hollingsworth circa 1917.⁵ Robert Lee Slade was registered for the military draft in World War I on June 3, 1917 in Pulaski County, Georgia.³ Robert died on January 3, 1951 at age 61² and was buried in Slade Cemetery, Pulaski County, Georgia.²

     Rosa J. Slade was born in 1907 in Crisp County, Georgia.¹ She was the daughter of Jeremiah Obediah Slade and Leila Savannah Raines.¹
     Rosa married Colon Whewell Williams.^2,3 Rosa died on March 23, 1997.³ She was buried in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, Cordele, Crisp County, Georgia.³

     Russell John Slade was born on June 23, 1904 in Texas.¹ He was the son of John M. Slade and Augusta E Ellis.¹
     Russell married Madeliene M Oliver circa 1927.² Russell died on February 9, 1956 in Los Angeles County, California, at age 51.³³

     Ruth Estelle Slade was born on June 26, 1910 in Crisp County, Georgia.¹ She was the daughter of Jeremiah Obediah Slade and Leila Savannah Raines.² Ruth died on January 24, 1986 at age 75¹ and was buried in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, Cordele, Crisp County, Georgia.¹

     Susannah Slade was born on July 3, 1863.¹ She was the daughter of Jeremiah Slade and Queen Ellen Culpepper.¹ Susannah died on September 18, 1868 at age 5.¹
