     Charles married second Nelda Martin.1 Charles died on July 23, 2002 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, at age 81.1 He was buried in Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Rich Square, Northampton County, North Carolina.1 His obituary read as follows:

      RICH SQUARE — Mr. Charles Marshall Slade Sr., 81, died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at Albemarle Memorial Hospital in Elizabeth City.
     Mr. Slade was a member of Rich Square United Methodist Church. He served a tour of duty in the United States Navy where he spent five years on the U.S.S. Wyoming during World War II. He was very passionate and enthusiastic about the N.C. Senior Games, both supporting and participating in these games. He retired after working many years with the U.S. Postal Service in Rich Square.
     He was preceded in death by his mother, Josephine Drake Slade; his father, Walter Anderson Slade; his first wife, Louise Braswell Slade; one sister, Helen Moseley; and five brothers, Seth, Paul, Walter, Spurgeon and Hubert Slade.
     He is survived by his wife, Nelda Martin Slade; one daughter, Tamara Beamon and her husband, Keith, of Selma; one son, Charles M. Slade Jr. and his wife, Pam, of Rich Square; two brothers, Joe Slade of Jamestown, and Reuben Slade of Kernersville; three stepsons, Art Martin of Hampton, Va., and Lloyd Martin and Ed Martin, both of Jackson; five grandchildren; and six stepgrandchildren.
     Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 25, at Rich Square United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Chuck Plowman and the Rev. Bennie Tripp officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Rich Square.
     Massey Funeral Home in Jackson is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., today, July 24.5

      Mrs. Essie Laura Slade Warren, 102, of Lasker, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at her home. Mrs. Warren was born Oct. 25, 1902, in Northampton County, the daughter of the late William J. Slade and Mary Bashford Peele Slade and the wife of the late Hardy Ellis Warren. She was also preceded in death by a son, William Hardy Slade Warren; and a daughter, Martha Jeanette Warren Lassiter. She was a member of Lasker Baptist Church.

     She is survived by her daughter, Mary Elizabeth "Lib" Warren of Lasker and her son, Oliver C. Warren and his wife, Anne, of Norfolk, Va; three grandchildren, Kathy Warren Gibson, Janet Warren Shimanek and Becky Warren Edmonds; and three great-grandchildren, Justin Warren Shimanek, Lauren Elizabeth Gibson and JasonYoung.
     Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., today, Nov. 30, at Lasker Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ricky Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in Lasker Cemetery.

      ROANOKE RAPIDS - Mrs. Helen Elizabeth Slade Moseley, 82, of 1308 Virginia Ave. died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at the home of her son, Donald H. Moseley, 1212 Carolina Ave., Roanoke Rapids.

Funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 18, 1999 at East Tenth Street Church of Christ, with David Chapman officiating. Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Moseley was a native of Siler City, the daughter of the late Walter Anderson Slade and Josephine Drake Slade. She was the widow of Percy Davis Moseley. She was a former employee of J.P. Stevens & Co. and retired nurse with Halifax Memorial Hospital.

Surviving are son, Donald H. Moseley, Sr. and wife, Carol of Roanoke Rapids; two daughters, Carolyn M. Flynn and husband, Paige of Greensboro, Margaret M. Hudgins and husband, Johnnie of Mobjack, Va; four brothers, Walter Slade, Jr. of Greensboro, Charles Slade of Kitty Hawk, Joseph Slade of Jamestown, Reuben Slade of Kernersville; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Wrenn Funeral Home, Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999 from 7-8:30 p.m.

     Herbert married Vera Ruth Free, daughter of James P. Free and Maggie Brady.6 His Social Security Card was issued 1954 in Texas.2 Herbert was discharged on Apr 30, 1956 after 20 years military service.4 Herbert died on February 16, 1978 at age 60.2,4 He was buried in Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport, Sullivan County, Tennessee.1

     Joseph Parker Slade was born on January 1, 1924 in Jamestown, Guilford County, North Carolina.1,2 He was the son of Walter Anderson Slade and Josephine Cobb Drake.3 Joseph Parker Slade was registered for World War 2 draft in 1942 while living in Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina.2 When Joseph registered for the WW2 draft, he was living with his brother, Seth, at 806 Elam Avenue, Greensboro. He was unemployed.2
     Joseph married Emma Jane Lewis, daughter of Horace R. Lewis and Monnie Ridenhour, on August 21, 1948.1,4 Joseph died on August 16, 2015 in Lake Placid, Highlands County, Florida, at age 91.1 His obituary read as follows:

      Joseph Parker Slade, 91, of Lake Placid, FL, died peacefully on Sunday evening
August 16, 2015. Mr. Slade had been a resident of Lake Placid for twelve years and most recently a resident of Southern Lifestyles ALF.

He was born January 1, 1924 in Jamestown, NC, one of nine children of Josephine Drake and Walter A. Slade. Mr. Slade served his country in the US Navy during WWII and Korea with honors. After his discharge from the service, Mr. Slade resided in Jamestown 55 years, taught and coached at Jamestown School and was a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church. He worked many years in the furniture industry in High Point, North Carolina, and was a former co-owner of Disque Furniture Company. Traveling around the country and watching baseball and college basketball were major interests in his retirement years.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Jane Lewis Slade and is survived by his children Monnie S. Blesse (Fred)of Auberry, CA and Joe Slade, Jr., (Linda) of Ashe County, NC; four grandchildren, Andrew and Lindley Slade, Patrick and Danielle Rooney, and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a special friend, Geraldine Mrozka of Lake Placid, FL.

Family will receive visitors Saturday, August 22nd from 2 to 4 PM at Sechrest Funeral Service 1301 East Lexington Ave., High Point, NC 27262.

Donations in Mr. Slade’s memory may be made to Cornerstone Hospice,
45 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL or to the charity of the donors choice.1

Paul Addison Slade1

     Paul Addison Slade was born on May 8, 1911 in Roanoke Rapides, Halifax County, North Carolina.2,1 He was the son of Walter Anderson Slade and Josephine Cobb Drake.3 Paul Addison Slade was New Tag on February 5, 1917 in North Carolina.4 He enlisted in the US Army on September 23, 1935.2
     Paul married Sara J. Voyles, daughter of Alford Doris Voyles and Eliza Jane Trantham.1 Paul was discharged from the US Army Nov 13, 1945 and then later that same month on Nov 29, re-enlisted for a tour with the Army Corps of Engineers in Hawaii.1
Paul retired from the military on Feb 28, 1957.2 Paul died on July 15, 1980 at age 69.2 He was buried in Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort County, South Carolina.5

She is listed Dec 1964 as Ruth Jan Jenkins and in Mar 1977 and Feb 1994 as Ruth J. Mooney. Ruth died in Dec 1994.

     Hardy Ellis Warren was born on February 13, 1897 in North Carolina.2 He was the son of Ellis Warren and Martha Nelson.2
     Hardy married Essie Laura Slade, daughter of William Joseph Slade and Mary Bathaby Peele, in 1920.3 Hardy died on February 11, 1941 at age 43.2 He was buried in Warren Family Cemetery, Northampton County, North Carolina,

Note: The Warren Family Cemetery is adjacent to Warren Homeplace on Bolton Road near Rich Square. However, there is a joint tombstone in Town of Lasker Cemetery with names of Essie & Hardy. It is unknown if Hardy's remains were ever moved to Lasker or is at the family cemetery.2
