He worked many years in the furniture industry in High Point, North Carolina, and was a former co-owner of Disque Furniture Company. Traveling around the country and watching baseball and college basketball were major interests in his retirement years.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Jane Lewis Slade and is survived by his children Monnie S. Blesse (Fred)of Auberry, CA and Joe Slade, Jr., (Linda) of Ashe County, NC; four grandchildren, Andrew and Lindley Slade, Patrick and Danielle Rooney, and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a special friend, Geraldine Mrozka of Lake Placid, FL.
Family will receive visitors Saturday, August 22nd from 2 to 4 PM at Sechrest Funeral Service 1301 East Lexington Ave., High Point, NC 27262.
