     George T. Slade was born in April, 1864 in North Carolina.¹

     Gloria Gordon was born on May 26, 1922 in Wilcox County, Georgia.¹ She was the daughter of William Elige Gordon and Laura Birdie Howell.¹
     Gloria married John B. Slade, son of Thomas Jefferson Slade and Sara Jane McKinney.¹ Gloria died on February 1, 2009 at age 86.¹ Her obituary read as follows:

     

     Funeral services for Gloria Gordon Slade will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Service. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Slade, 86, passed away Sunday at Crisp Regional Nursing and Rehab. She was born in Wilcox County and was the daughter of the late William Elige and Laura Birdie Howell Gordon.

     She was a 1938 graduate of Pitts High School, where she was Salutatorian of her class. Mrs. Slade received a B.S. degree from Georgia Southwestern College and later attended Valdosta State College and taught school in Wilcox County for a number of years. She was a homemaker and a member of Cordele First Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class. She was also a past member of the Cordele Garden Club and secretary of the WMU.

     Mrs. Slade is survived by two daughters, Sandra Slade of Cordele and Gloria Jean Best and her husband, Glenn of Griffin; two grandsons and their wives, Slade and Wendy Walker of Griffin and Scott and Aida Walker of Upland, Calif; and two great-grandchildren, Brittany Walker and Jakob Walker. She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Slade, and her siblings, Rosalyn Pate, Elliott Gordon, Dorothy Paulk, Howell Gordon, Lyndon Gordon and Mildred Johnson. The family may be contacted at the residence of her daughter, Sandra Slade, at 351 N. Coney Road, Cordele, GA 31015.¹ She was buried in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Cordele, Crisp County, Georgia.¹

     Hartie Ruth Cox was born in 1917 in Crisp County, Georgia.^1,2 She was the daughter of Henry Bryant Cox and Zackie Rita Theresa Slade.¹ Hartie died in 1982.²

     Anna Gray Slade was born in September, 1858 in Alabama.¹ She was the daughter of Thomas Blount Slade and Catherine Irby Comegys.
     Anna married James D. Hunnicutt circa 1879 in Mississippi. In 1930, she was living in Harris County, Texas with daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Dwight Penn.

     Fatha A. Stevens was born in 1845 in Georgia.¹
     Fatha married Thomas William Slade, son of Ebenezer Slade and Louisa Lucinda Boykin, on December 16, 1866 in Polk County, Texas.¹

     His is shown in Wickham Precinct [later Hyde] in 1712.¹ His Hyde County will is dated 1743.¹

     George Slade was born in 1817 in Bristol County, Massachusetts.^1,2 He was the son of Eber Slade and Ruth Shove.
     George married Mary Ann [?].³ George died on May 3, 1893 in Monroe County, New York.¹ He was buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, Rochester, Monroe County, New York.¹

     John married Annie Janet Slade, daughter of William Slade and Penelope Williams. John died circa 1887 in North Carolina.
