     Loren Hamilton Slade was born on October 30, 1879 in Waterloo, Black Hawk County, Iowa.^1,2 He was the son of Sardis Van Rensselaer Slade and Alice [?].³

A pretty home wedding occurred at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Hamilton, 1006 Jefferson Street, Wednesday afternoon at half-after five when their daughter, Mary E. Hamilton, was wedded to Mr. Loren H. Slade. Only the immediate relatives witnessed the ceremony, which was said by Rev. Samual Callen of the Presbyterian church, the bridal couple entering the parlor just as the last strains of "o, Promise Me," sung by Miss Connell, died away. After the congratulations, a splendid three course repaast was served at three tables, which were prettily decorated with yellow daffodils and ferns. The servers were Misses Elizabeth Hamilton, Rose Hamilton and Mrs. J.P. Schaible. The bride was prettily gowned in a white Persian lawn and carried a bouquet of white roses. Mrs. Slade has been for several years on of the most popular clerks at Black's. The groom occupies the reliable position as book-keeper for the Kelly & Taneyhill Co. Many pretty gifts were displayed at the Hamilton home and many good wishes were received. Mr. and Mrs. Slade will begin house-keeping at once at 312 Lafayette Street, and will be at home after April 1st. The out of town guests present were: Mr. and Mrs. J.P. Schaible, Shady Grove; Miss Connell, Laporte. Mrs. Arthur Slade, Frank Hamilton, Chicago; Orville Hamilton, George Hamilton, New Hartford; Mrs. Stead, Dubuque. Loren Hamilton Slade was registered for the military draft in World War I on September 12, 1918 in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon.² He resided in Reedville, Washington County, Oregon, in 1942.¹

     Arthur Grant Slade was born on May 15, 1865 in Iowa.^2,3 He was the son of Sardis Van Rensselaer Slade and Alice [?].¹
     Arthur married Elizabeth B. Atkin in 1893 in Iowa.² Arthur died on May 18, 1932 at age 67.³ He was buried in Salem Pioneer Cemetery, Salem, Marion County, Oregon. [This is believed to be Arthur Grant Slade]³

     Oscar C. Slade was born in December, 1867 in Iowa.¹ He was the son of Sardis Van Rensselaer Slade and Alice [?].¹
     Oscar married Estelle J. [?] in 1896.² Living with them was Don E. Deal, b Jan 1870, Iowa, ??-in-law, assumed to be Estells's brother.

     Sardis Van Rensselaer Slade was born on August 31, 1835 in New York [FindaGrave indicates he was born in Michigan].^1,2
     Sardis married Alice [?].¹ Sardis Van Rensselaer Slade was a furniture dealer. Sardis died on February 6, 1902 at age 66² and was buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Waterloo, Black Hawk County, Iowa.²

     Elizabeth B. Atkin was born in January, 1870 in Iowa.¹
     Elizabeth married Arthur Grant Slade, son of Sardis Van Rensselaer Slade and Alice [?], in 1893 in Iowa.¹

     Millicent Alice Slade was born in September, 1893 in Iowa.¹ She was the daughter of Arthur Grant Slade and Elizabeth B. Atkin.¹
     Millicent married Walter Schwart.²

     Eurimus M. Grant was born in October, 1844 in Virginia.²
     Eurimus married Louisa A. Slade, daughter of Henry T. Slade and Matilda M. Freeman, circa 1871.¹ Eurimus' brother R. F. Grant, age 30, and Louisa's mother Maranda Slade, 72, were also living with the Grant family in 1880.¹

     Joseph S. Slade was born in January, 1878 in Surry County, Virginia.¹ He was the son of Joseph Thomas Slade and Susanna V. Burgess. No further information is known about Joseph S. Slade.

     Edmoney W. Slade was born on May 10, 1861.¹ He was the son of Joseph Jefferson Slade and Rebecca J. Jackson¹ and died on July 4, 1862 at age 1.¹

     David Howle Slade was born on October 20, 1904 in Sussex County, Virginia.¹ He was the son of Joseph Frank Slade M. D. and Bessie Feild Greene.¹ David died on August 15, 1906 at age 1¹ and was buried in Slade-Greene Family Cemetery, Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia.¹
