He was a native of Sussex County and was the son of the late Joseph Frank and Bessie Greene Slade. He was a retired farmer.
Mr. Slade was the widower of Mary Peebles Slade. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Bessie S. and Willie E. Richardson of Dendron; son, Robert Sydney Slade Jr. of Stony Creek; grandchildren, Mary Anna Richardson and Paul Richardson, both of Dendron; and a nephew, J.F. Slade of Stony Creek.
A graveside service will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in the Feild Family Cemetery, Stony Creek. The Rev. Betsy Basehore, pastor of Sharon United Methodist Church, will officiate. The family will receive friends at the residence.

Samuel married Sally Ann Hahne on September 5, 1964.1 She was the daughter of Newton and Harriet (Smith) Hahne of Virginia, Minnesota.2 Samuel died on February 2, 2011 in Tuscon, Pima County, Arizona, at age 69.1 He was buried in Holy Hope Cemetery, Tucson, Pima County, Arizona.3 Samuel "Butch" B. Slade Jr., beloved father, grandpa, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at his home in Tucson, Ariz.
Sam was born March 18, 1941, to Bert and Artie Slade in Virginia. He was a graduate of Virginia High School where he was All-State in basketball, baseball and football. He attended the University of Arizona in Tucson on a baseball scholarship. As a pitcher for the Arizona Wildcats, he went on to play in the 1963 College World Series. Sam also later received his MBA from the University of Arizona.
He married his high school sweetheart, Sally (Hahne), on Sept. 5, 1964. While spending the majority of his career working for such companies as General Mills and Quaker Oats, he and his family called the Chicago area home. Sam and Sally returned to Tucson in 1994, where Sam worked as a financial advisor until he retired in the fall of 2009.
Sam was an avid golfer and enjoyed all things sports. He liked to hunt and fish, as well as spend time with his family and friends on Lake 14. Sam was an active member of St. Mark's Catholic Church in Tucson, serving as a sacristan and on both their financial and building commitees. He was also very involved with Junior Achievement and the University of Arizona Alumni Association/Letterman's Club.
He is survived by daughters, Stephanie Launius and Michelle (Gregg) Menaker; sisters, Sandy Maroste, Sally Dixon and Bonnie (Jerry) Zimmerman; grandchildren, Sam Launius, Hannah Launius, Michael Menaker, Harrison Menaker and Sally Menaker; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Slade in 2002; by his parents Bert and Artie Slade; sister Sue (Mike) Thomas.

John has been a lifelong Baptist and was Pastor at Midway Baptist Church in Hewitt until his retirement and then was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Robinson. John enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Don Slade; mother Aline Walker Slade; and brothers, Don Slade Jr. and George Slade.
He is survived by his wife, Norine Slade of Woodway; son John William "Bill" Slade and wife, Jaime, of Katy; and grandchildren, Houston William Slade and John Walker Slade.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Kopp, D. D. Baxley, James Loudermilk, Dan Wash, Gordon Riley and Jim Daniels.

John married Norine Hill on June 20, 1959.2 She was the daughter of Norbert Jefferson Hill and Gertrude Lauter Hill.3 He was President and owner of Slade Sign Co., Inc. which was established in 1929. John has been a lifelong Baptist and was Pastor at Midway Baptist Church in Hewitt until his retirement.2 John died on October 14, 2011 at age 78.2 He was buried in Waco Memorial Park, Robinson, McLennan County, Texas.2 His obituary read as follows:
John Rupert Slade, of Woodway, passed away Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, at St. Catherine's Center. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, at Cornerstone Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Daniels officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey.

Frankie married George Henry Slade, son of Donald Seaborne Slade Sr. and Alline Walker.1 Frankie died on December 13, 2014 at age 87.2 Her obituary read as follows:
Frankie Slade Hughes died December 13, 2014 after a lengthy illness but a full life. She was born January 3, 1927, in Hot Springs, Arkansas to Frank and Thelma Irwin. Frankie has been a resident of Bossier City, Louisiana since 1967 when her first husband, George was transferred to Barksdale Air Force Base. She worked in the banking industry for almost 30 years before retiring so that she could enjoy gardening, reading, bible study, and weekends at her lake house. She experienced the greatest joy when she was with her children and many grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her precious daughter, Martha Barca, her devoted son-in-law, Frank M. Walker, Jr; and her beautiful granddaughter, Nina Elise Walker; and her husband, John. She was loved beyond compare by her two sisters Dorothy Doherty and Virginia Faubion who prayed for her and spoke with her by phone almost every day.
She is survived by her son, George H. Slade, Jr and wife, Catherine; her daughter, Suzie Walker Sharp and husband, Doug; and her grandchildren, Marc Prodgers and wife, Michelle, Jennifer Dysart and husband, Eric, Michael Prodgers, Brian Slade and wife, Kibbie, Keith Prodgers, Meredith Walker Price, Brooke Walker Strickland and husband, Ben, Matthew Barca and wife, Jenny, Amanda Slade, Sarah Mendez and husband, Thomas, Carmen Walker and Slade Walker. Her great grandchildren include, Ethan and Brian Dysart, Gavin and Gabrielle Prodgers, Lauren and Cam Slade, Ella, Maddie and Ava Price, Marriya Barca and Walker Strickland.
Our family sends our heartfelt thanks to Yolanda Hicks, Miss Frankie's dear friend and caretaker for the last year.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, December 19th at Osborn Funeral Home. A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 20th, in the chapel of Osborn. Interment will be at Forest Park Cemetery following for family members.2 She was buried in Forest Park Cemetery, Caddo Parish, Louisiana.2
