A memorial service will be held at 9:00 AM on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Parkway Baptist Church with Rev. Russell Davis officiating.
Mr. Slade was born on August 6, 1948 in San Antonio, Texas. Although he was a native Texan, Mr. Slade was born into a military family and lived in many different places including Hawaii and Maine. Mr. Slade was an Air Force Veteran who served admirably in Vietnam as an Air Traffic Controller. He eventually found himself in the financial services industry where he excelled. Mr. Slade was an avid golfer who was able to travel and play the world’s best golf courses. He was a father figure to many of his younger friends that he played golf with. Known as “Pee-Paw” to some of them, Mr. Slade relished the opportunity to kick their butts on the golf course. Golf was truly his sanctuary.
A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to so many, Mr. Slade was happiest spending time with his family and having all 3 of his kids together in one place. He was a great “Pop Pop” to his grandchildren (Ethan, Brian, Lauren, and Cam) and would support and attend their many activities whenever he could. Mr. Slade was a great cook and loved cooking for family, friend, and stranger gatherings.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Slade is survived by his children, Brian Slade (Kibbie), Amanda Slade, and Jennifer Dysart (Eric); his sister, Suzie Walker Sharp (Douglas); his grandchildren, Ethan and Brian Dysart, and Lauren and Cam Slade; and many nieces and nephews.
