     Solon L. Slade was born in September, 1855 in New York.^1,2 He was the son of Luke Slade and Mary E. [?]¹
     Solon married Martha R. Ostander, daughter of Charles Ostander and Sarah [?].³ Solon L. Slade was working as a bookeeper in 1900 in Manhattan, New York.² He was working as a stock broker in 1905 in Manhattan, New York.⁴

     Louise Morrell was born on December 5, 1919 in Newfield, New Jersey.²
     Louise married Russell Stuart Rhind Slade, son of Ernest Bewley Slade and Cornelia Stewart, circa 1944.¹ Louise died on July 31, 2004 in Jefferson County, Colorado, at age 84.² Her obituary read as follows:

      Louise Morrell Slade, 84, of Wheat Ridge, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2004. Louise was born in Newfield, NJ on December 5, 1919. She graduated from Pierce Business School in Philadelphia, PA and earned a degree in business and humanities from the University Without Walls of Loretto Heights College in October, 1974. Her vocational career included serving as a bookkeeper for the Reed Speaker Co., and management assistant for the CO Geological Survey. Volunteer activities included serving as a docent at the Denver Art Museum, a speaker for the Foothills Genealogical Society, and a member of the outreach committee at Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her beloved husband Russell, precious children Barbara Ann of Lakewood, and Walter (Kathy) of Arvada, and cherished grandsons Isaac, Caleb, and Micah. Memorial services, 2:00 p.m. Thursday, at Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church, 11500 W. 20th Ave., Lakewood. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Mrs. Slade's memory to the Denver Art Museum.²

     Silvia Carol Slade was born in Washington County, Maine.¹ She was the daughter of Russell Stuart Rhind Slade and Louise Morrell.¹ + and died there at age two.

     Dorothy Slade was born circa 1909 in Kent County, Michigan.¹ She was the daughter of Lawrence Slade and Margaret Powell.¹
     Dorothy married Bernard R. Nawrocki.²

     Lavina Slade was born circa 1914 in Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan.¹ She was the daughter of Lawrence Slade and Margaret Powell.¹
     Lavina married Ben Bielecki.² Lavina Slade and Ben Bielecki were living in April, 1986 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.²

     Earle Raymond Slade was born on April 23, 1911 in Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan.^1,3 He was the son of Lawrence Slade and Margaret Powell.¹
     Earle married Ann M. Hoogterp², the daughter of Cornelia VanderMolen and John Bernard Hoogterp.⁵
     Earle Raymond Slade registered for the draft for World War II in 1941, while living at Grand Rapids, Michigan, at 1141 DeBoer Street.³ Earle died on April 18, 1986 at age 74⁴ and was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan.⁶

     Margaret Ann Slade was born on May 14, 1918 in Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan.² She was the daughter of Lawrence Slade and Margaret Powell.¹
     Margaret married Marcus F. DeRuyter.³ Margaret died on December 22, 2014 at age 96.² She was buried in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan.² Her obituary read as follows:

      DERUYTER, MARGARET Margaret Ann (Slade) DeRuyter, born May 14, 1918, of Pierson, MI went to be with the Lord December 22, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marcus F. DeRuyter, and infant daughter Camille. She is survived by her daughters: Carol (Dr. Richard) Belgrad of Bozeman, MT, Judy DeRuyter of Grand Rapids, Linda (Terry) Moehlman of Evans, GA, Margery (Joe) Smith of Kalamazoo; six grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. Margaret is the last sibling of five sister and three brothers in the Slade family. She studied nursing at St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing. Margaret enjoyed gardening and feeding the birds at her home in Pierson. She was a member of Christ the King Church, Howard City and St. Anthony of Padua Church, Grand Rapids. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday 11:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua where she will repose one hour prior. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 pm at Arsulowicz Brothers Remembrance Mortuary, 3525 Remembrance Rd NW, where a Rosary will be prayed at 3:45 pm. Memorial Contributions to St. Anthony's Education Foundation will be appreciated.⁴

     Sarah Ann Hamblyn was born circa 1834 in Portsea, Hampshire, England,¹, the daughter of Elizabeth & Zachariah Hamblyn.³
     Sarah married Henry William Slade, son of Thomas Slade and Sophia Ann Humphrey, on March 13, 1858.^1,4

     Homer W. Slade was born on November 30, 1902 in New York.³ He was the son of Howard D. Slade and Harriett E. Matthews.² Homer W. Slade was New Tag circa 1904 in New York.¹
     Homer married Ann C. Hoppe circa 1925.¹ Homer died in September, 1975 in Warners, Onondaga County, New York, at age 72.³

     Ann C. Hoppe was born circa 1906 in New York.¹
     Ann married Homer W. Slade, son of Howard D. Slade and Harriett E. Matthews, circa 1925.¹ Ann died on January 10, 1990.³ She was buried in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Warners, Onondaga County, New York.³

     Helen Slade was born on June 24, 1926 in Syracuse, Onondaga County, New York.² She was the daughter of Homer W. Slade and Ann C. Hoppe.¹
     Helen married The Reverend John D. Hughes in Onondaga County, New York.² Helen died on February 23, 2012 at age 85.² Her obituary read as follows:

      Helen S. Hughes, 85, of Glastonbury, formerly of Bolton, died on Thursday, (February 23, 2012) at her home surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. She was the wife of the late Rev. John D. Hughes. Helen was born on June 24, 1926, in Syracuse, NY, to Homer W. and Ann C. Hoppe Slade of Warners, NY. She was a 1944 graduate of Warners High School. She worked at Unity Life and Accident Insurance until her marriage to the Rev. John D. Hughes, who was the resident minister of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Liverpool, NY and St. Paul's Church in Warners, NY in 1955. Helen was married to John for 46 years, and where the Episcopal Church led them, they went. They had resided in Waterbury, Manchester, and Bolton. Helen loved the Bolton area where she lived for 35 years. She was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church and the Women's Group for many years. In 2001, Helen moved to congregate care at the The Herbert T. Clark House in Glastonbury, CT. She was an avid fan of the UCONN Basketball Teams. She is survived by her loving children, Cynthia Southern of Hope Valley, RI, Mary and Robert Wright of Coventry, William and Mary Ann Hughes of Coventry, and John and Kathy Hughes of Manchester; and her beloved grandchildren Corinne Southern and boyfriend, Patrick Horton of Providence, RI, Erik and Karl Wright of Coventry, Brendan Hughes of Manchester, and Jenna and Brittany Hughes of Palm Bay, FL ; a beloved brother and sister- in- law, Howard and Phyllis Slade of Fulton, NY; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, the Rev. John D. Hughes and her son-in-law, Paul Southern.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester, CT. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 27, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St George's Episcopal Church, 1150 Boston Turnpike(RT. 6 and RT. 44), Bolton, CT. Burial will be at Bolton Center Cemetery.
