     Clarence Albert Slade was born on August 10, 1936 in Iowa City, Johnson County, Iowa.2 He was the son of Albert Clarence Slade and Ruth Leona Boarts.1
     Clarence married Edna Mae Brown, daughter of Alton R. Brown and Mabel V. Bush, on November 2, 1956 in Tiffin, Johnson County, Iowa.3 Clarence died on April 20, 2014 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, at age 77.2 He was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Tiffin, Johnson County, Iowa.2 His obituary read as follows:

      Clarence A. Slade, 77, of Independence, died Sunday, April 20, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids.

He was born Aug. 10, 1936, in Iowa City, son of Albert and Ruth Boarts Slade. He married Edna M. Brown on Nov. 2, 1956.

Clarence was a 1955 graduate of Tiffin High School, Tiffin. He was employed as the GM parts manager for Dunlap’s Motors, Independence, retiring in 1998.

Survived by: his wife; two daughters, Carla Slade of Marion and Corrine (Rob) Corkery of Brandon; three grandchildren; and a sister, Gertrude VanDevender of Seattle.

Preceded in death by: his parents; three sisters, Estella Mancusso, Betty Brown and Eileen Slade; and two brothers, Charles and Ronald.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, with inurnment at a later date in Tiffin Cemetery. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. until services Thursday at the funeral home.
