     Larry married Janet K. Synk on May 7, 1971.2 Larry died on June 4, 2015 in Naperville, DuPage County, Illinois, at age 68.2 He was buried in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Will County, Illinois.2 His obituary read as follows:

      Larry A. "POOBAH" Slade, age 68, of Lisle, IL, formerly of Ohio, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Edward Hospital, Naperville following an extended illness. He was born January 6, 1947 in Columbus, OH. Beloved husband of Janet K. Slade (nee Synk), whom he married May 7, 1971, loving father of Adam (Nicole) Slade, Mindy (Ross Woody) Slade and Gregory Clark Slade. Adored grandfather of Ian, Isabelle and Asher; Alexandra, Danielle, Shelbe and Kendall. Devoted son of the late Donald and Yvette (nee Ramsey) Slade, dear brother-in-law of Bernard Synk, Richard Synk, Mary Jo (David) Pleva, Paul Synk and Patricia (Mike) Austin. Fond uncle, great-uncle and friend of many. Larry served in the U.S Army during the Vietnam War from October 1968 - September 1969 as a specialist 4th class (SP4) in the 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile). After his discharge from the Army, Larry worked for American Airlines and later for 21 years with Qantas Airways. He retired from the Lisle Convention & Visitors Bureau on January 6, 2012 after 16 years of service. Memorial Visitation Wednesday, June 10, 9:00-10:00 AM at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Kingston & Front Streets, Lisle. A Memorial Mass will follow Wednesday, 10:00 AM at church with Fr. Ken Zigmond officiating. Family and friends will meet Wednesday, 2:30 PM at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL for committal services and military honors.
