     Melvin Eugene Slade was born on February 26, 1930 in McKean County, Pennsylvania.^2,1 He was the son of Gerald Edwin Slade and Leila Pearl Daley¹ and died on February 14, 1974 at age 43.^2,3 Melvin Eugene Slade was buried in McKean County Memorial Park, Lafayette, McKean County, Pennsylvania.³

     Minnie Othelda Homesley was born on December 5, 1894 in Texas.³ She was the daughter of John Mosley Homesley and Birtie E. Streater.³ Minnie Othelda Homesley went by Thelda.⁴
     Minnie married Jahue Gustave Slade, son of John Thomas Slade and Anna Marie Lucerne, circa 1913.⁵ Minnie died on February 27, 1985 at age 90.³ She was buried in Mexia City Cemetery, Limestone County, Texas.³

     John D. Slade was born on October 7, 1914 in Prarie Hill, Limestone County, Texas.^2,1 He was the son of Jahue Gustave Slade and Minnie Othelda Homesley.²
     John married Mattie Adele Roberts.³ John died on May 10, 1954 in Houston, Harris County, Texas, at age 39.¹ He was buried in Mount Antioch Cemetery, Prarie Hill, Limestone County, Texas.⁴

Note: John Slade's death certificate indicates he was to be buried at Mount Calm Cemetery, however, his tomestone and wife are buried at Mount Antioch with his parents.^4,1

     Vernon C. Slade was born on February 26, 1918 in Prarie Hill, Limestone County, Texas.^1,2 He was the son of Jahue Gustave Slade and Minnie Othelda Homesley.¹ Vernon died on July 27, 1992 at age 74.²

     Douglas Cecil Slade was born on July 17, 1920 in Prarie Hill, Limestone County, Texas.² He was the son of Jahue Gustave Slade and Minnie Othelda Homesley.²
     Douglas married Lorene Wheat³, the daughter of Kate McMillian & Walter Gravil Wheat.⁴ Douglas died on November 21, 1993 at age 73.²

     Arthur B. Slade was born on April 8, 1924 in Texas.² He was the son of Jahue Gustave Slade and Minnie Othelda Homesley.¹
     Arthur married W. Frances [?].³ Arthur died on December 1, 1997 in Nueces County, Texas, at age 73.² He was buried in Mexia City Cemetery, Limestone County, Texas.²

     Anna Marie Lucerne was born on July 23, 1857 in Switzerland.^1,2,3
     Anna married first John Thomas Slade.¹
     Anna married second Isaac Newton Vinson in 1893.⁴ Anna died on August 25, 1937 at age 80³ and was buried in Coolidge Cemetery, Coolidge, Limestone County, Texas.³

     James Gordon Slade was born on December 26, 1946 in Ellis County, Texas.² He was the son of Gordon Wilson Slade and Lois Floydene Warren.¹ He was a graduate of Palmer High School 1965 and Texas Tech University, BusA. He had a career with Walgreen's drug Co until he retired 2005.
     James married Jamie Elaine Albritton.^3,4 James died on October 8, 2008 in Gulfport, Harrison County, Mississippi, at age 61.⁴ He was buried in Lakewood South Memorial Park, Jackson, Hinds County, Mississippi.^4,5 His obituary read as follows:

     Lawrence Dean Slade was born on January 21, 1949 in Ellis County, Texas.¹ He was the son of Gordon Wilson Slade and Lois Floydene Warren.¹
     Lawrence married Janice Marie Harrison on June 15, 1968 in Texas. Lawrence Dean Slade and Janice Marie Harrison were divorced on January 29, 1971.²
     Lawrence married second Beverly Carleen Tucker.³
     Lawrence married third Catherine Zmolik on August 23, 1988.⁴ Lawrence Dean Slade 1604 Easy St, Seagoville, TX 75159-4520 (972) 287-3215 in 2008. He and Catherine Zmolik were divorced on March 16, 2011.⁴ Lawrence Dean Slade Monica? & Joey Slade 903-654-1340, called 8-29-2016 to inquire about location of Slade Plantation. Lawrence died on July 2, 2018 in Ennis, Ellis County, Texas, at age 69⁵ and was buried in Palmer Cemetery, Palmer, Ellis County, Texas.⁵ His obituary read as follows:

      Lawrence “Larry” Dean Slade, 69 of Ennis, passed away Monday, July 2, 2018 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 21, 1949 in Ennis, Texas.

Larry loved being in his game room playing pool and spending time with his family. He worked as a mechanic and was also a truck driver. He served our country in the United States Army and was in the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his sons, Billy Slade and Joey Slade and his wife, Monica; his sister, Valerie Mitchell Stanton; his grandchildren, Mariah Slade Shortnacy and her husband, Dustin, Joey Slade, Jr., Izacc Slade, and Emery Slade.

Larry recently found out he was going to be a great-grandpa and was very excited.

A graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2018 at the Palmer Cemetery under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home, Waxahachie.⁵

     Joseph Frank Slade Jr. was born on November 7, 1900 in Sussex County, Virginia.¹ He was the son of Joseph Frank Slade M. D. and Bessie Feild Greene.¹ Joseph died on June 18, 1902 at age 1¹ and was buried in Slade-Greene Family Cemetery, Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia.¹

     Rosa Shelton Slade was born on February 13, 1920 in Sussex County, Virginia.¹ She was the daughter of James William Greene Slade and Anna Atkinson Briggs.¹ Rosa died on December 10, 1923 at age 3 and was buried in Slade-Greene Family Cemetery, Stony Creek, Sussex County, Virginia.²

     Robert James Slade Jr. was born on November 13, 1918 in Blackwater District, Surry County, Virginia.^2,3 He was the son of Robert James Slade and Edna Estell Whitemore.²

Robert married Armistead May Ingram, daughter of Herbert Ingram and Cecil Virginia Faison, on December 4, 1938 in Richmond, Virginia.⁴ Robert died on April 8, 2000 in Surry County, Virginia, at age 81.^5,3 He was buried in Union Church Cemetery, Dendron, Surry County, Virginia.⁶ His obituary read as follows:

Robert James "Mutt" Slade Jr., 81, of South 18th Avenue, Hopewell, died Saturday, April 8, 2000, at Health South Medical Center, Richmond, after a long illness.

A native of Dendron, he was born on Nov. 13, 1918, the son of the late Robert James Slade Sr. and Edna Whitmore Slade. He had formerly been a Surry County farmer and retired as a truck driver for Franklin Equipment Co. He was a member of Union Congregational Christian Church, Surry County, and had attended Dendron Methodist Church and the Abundant Life Pentecostal Holiness Church in Prince George. He was a charter member of the Blackwater Sportsman's Club in Surry County.

He is survived by his wife, Gayle Hudson Slade; a daughter, Donna Leigh Slade of Surry; four stepsons, Ronnie Ray Broughton of Casper, Wyo., Donnie Earl Broughton of Hopewell, Jerry Olson Broughton of Prince George and Anthony Kell Broughton of Royston, Ga; a sister, Edna Slade Pitts of Goochland; a brother, Kenneth J. Slade of Wakefield; 12 stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat-granddaughter. He was the brother of the late Mary Slade Price.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, at Purviance Funeral Chapel, Wakefield. Burial will be in Union Church Cemetery, Surry County. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday evening.

Memorial donations may be made to the Dendron or Surry volunteer fire departments, or to the building fund of Abundant Life Pentecostal Holiness Church, Prince George.
