The Petition of Sarah Slade of Chamberlains in Conception Bay, Newfoundland, Widow

Humbly Sheweth

That your Petitioner's husband, Matthew Slade, late of Chamberlains aforesaid, Farmer, deceased, departed this life on or about the sixth day of December last (1884) having previously made and published his last Will and Testament hereto annexed.
That the said Matthew Slade left him sorrowing your Petitioner and the following children namely two sons James and Edward and two daughters Elizabeth, wife of William Anthony, and Ann, wife of William Barton, the said children being all over age.
That the Estate of the said Matthew Slade, deceased, at the time of his death did not exceed the sum of four hundred dollars in value according to the best of your Petitioner's opinion and belief.
That no letters of probate of the said will or administration of the said Estate have been granted.
Your Petitioner humbly prays that letters of administration "cum testament annexo" of the Estate of the said Matthew Slade, deceased, may be granted to her and as in duty bound will ever pray.

     Edward married Mary Grace [?] circa 1880 in Chamberlains, Newfoundland.⁴ Edward is a fisherman with his brother James.⁵ Edward and his brother are fishing out of Chamberlains, Harbour Main.⁶ Edward and his brother James are farming in Chamberlains.⁷

     Edith Grace Pollard was born circa 1903 in Creswick, Victoria, Australia,², the daughter of Emma Ellen Richardson Norman & John Pollard.²
     Edith married Charles Edward Slade, son of William Thomas Slade and Ada Louisa Hartup, in 1921 in Victoria, Australia.¹ Edith died in May, 1979 in Creswick, Victoria.³ She was buried in Creswick Cemetery, Creswick, Hepburn Shire, Victoria, Australia.⁴

     Fred Slade was born circa 1850.¹
     Fred married S. [?] circa 1886.¹

     William James Henry Slade was born on August 11, 1887 in Perrys Cove, Newfoundland, Canada.¹ He was the son of Fred Slade and S. [?]¹
     William married Elsie Delaney on May 14, 1908 in Western Bay, Newfoundland.² William died in 1972.³ He was buried in Western Bay North United Church Cemetery, Western Bay North, Newfoundland.³

     Elizabeth Trickett was born on June 2, 1866 in Spout Cove, Conception Bay, Newfoundland.³ She was baptized on January 15, 1867; Church of England Carbonear¹, the daughter of Tryphena & Elijah Trickett.¹
     Elizabeth married Tobias Slade, son of James Slade and Charlotte White, on December 2, 1890 in Salmon Cove, Newfoundland.² Elizabeth died in 1935³ and was buried in United Church Cemetery, Perry's Cove, Newfoundland, buried with Tobias.³

     Flora Kelloway was born on January 1, 1887 in Salmon Cove, Newfoundland, Canada, and baptised Mar 10, 1887^3,2, the daughter of Mark & Sue Kelloway, Methodists.³
     Flora married James Edward Slade, son of Joseph Slade and Adlena Kelloway, on January 10, 1905 in Salmon Cove, Newfoundland.^1,2 Flora died on March 29, 1968 at age 81⁴ and was buried in Riverside United Church Cemetery, Salmon Cove, Newfoundland.⁴
