Slade, Annie May - 98 Musquodobit Harbour passed away peacefully Monday, July 26, 2010, in The Birches Nursing Home, just seven weeks shy of her 99th birthday. Born September 13, 1911, in Cox's Cove, NL, she was the daughter of the late Alfred Murley and Martha Frances (Abbot). She immigrated with her family to Halifax when she was still a preschooler, and survived the Halifax Explosion. She worked first at the Soda Fountain on Barrington, then at the French Pastry Shop on Quinpool Road before she met and married Ronald Slade, December 15, 1936. and had lived in Musquodobit Harbour ever since. She is survived by her children, Norma(Donald) Hilchie, Diane (William) Stevens, both of Musquodobit Harbour; and Ronald (Joyce) Slade of Dartmouth; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two great, great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Mitchell Brown Slade; brothers, Leslie and Roland Murley; half-brother, John Fleming. There will be no visitation but a service will be held in Rowling's Funeral Home in Musquodobit Harbour on Thursday at 2pm, Rev. Trisha Ingram officiating, with a gathering to follow at Bill and Diane Steven's, 266 Ostrea Lake Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Annie may be made to The Birches Nursing Home or Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital.

SLADE, Albert Roy - Albert Roy Slade died peacefully on February 18th, 2011, at Providence Centre in Toronto. Born on November 24, 1940 in Kingwell (Placentia Bay), Roy moved to Toronto in 1965 and worked for the Toronto Harbour Commission for 35 years. He loved his family and his miniature schnauzer Hank, who was his loyal sidekick. Roy also loved spenndig time at his cottage in Haliburton. He was a devoted family man and a kind and gentle person. Roy is survived by Mary, his wife of 45 years; his daughter Krista (Oxford, UK) and son, Mark (Prachayawan) and granddaughters Kate and Sonya who live in Tokyo. Roy will live forever in the hearts of his wife and children. His sisters Una (Calvin), Alma (Ray), Linda (Joe) and his brother Ed (Jeanette) also mourn Roy in Newfoundland. The family has decided that there will not be a funeral at this time. There will, however, be a celebration of Roy's life in July when his ashes will be buried in Kingwell.
