George R. Slade was born in 1916 in Kingwell, Newfoundland.2 He was the son of Reuben Slade and Annie Ingram.1
George married Matilda Jane Rodway circa 19423,4, the daughter of George & Eliza Rodway.5 George died on March 6, 2005 in Clarenville, Newfoundland.4 He was buried in Anglican Church Cemetery, North Harbour, Placentia Bay, Newfoundland,4 and was buried in North Harbour, Newfoundland.4 His obituary read as follows:
Slade, George R. - Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Sunday, March 6, 2005, George R. Slade of North Harbour, Placentia Day, formerly of Kingwell, Placentia Bay, aged 89 years. Predeceased by his father Reuben, mother Annie, brothers Donald and Jesse, sisters Caroline, Evelyn and Marion and son Norman. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife Tillie of 61 years; daughters Rosalie Rogers (Peter) at Marystown and Anne Vey (Rick) at Long Beach; sons David (Rhoda Hodder) and Harvey (Maxine Oliver) at North Harbour; sister Maude (Victor Rodway, deceased) at Deer Lake; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; as well as a large number of other relatives and friends. Rested at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, North Harbour. Funeral service held on Wednesday, March 9, 2005, with interment at the Anglican Cemetery, North Harbour.
