She was born in North Adams on July 10, 1923, daughter of Ernest and Lily (Sprowson) Jones. She graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1941. She was employed at North Adams Regional Hospital for many years as a pharmacy technician retiring in 1987. After retiring she volunteered at NARH, and for 21 years at Boswell Memorial Hospital in Arizona. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting and having lunch with friends. She also liked to play croquet and miniature golf. Her husband of 66 years, Northway W. Abbott, whom she married on March 19, 1943, died March 21, 2009. Survivors include two daughters, Carol Ann DeBlois and her husband Gregory of Adams, Linda R.       mother-in-law -Mrs. Marie E. Puzzilla, 101, formerly of N. Litchfield St., passed away Friday, June 8, 2012, in Masonic Home, where she had resided for nearly four years. She was born in Brooklyn on August 24, 1910, the daughter of the late Vincent and Jennie Gerardi, and she attended schools there. Marie was married to John T. "Puzze" Puzzilla on April 23, 1933, in Brooklyn. Puzze passed away on November 14, 1988. Marie was a seamstress for Munger's Department Store, Herkimer, for many years, and was a distributor of Avon Products for over 50 years in the Frankfort area. Marie and John "Puzze" were the owners and operators of Puzze's Restaurant, 119 N. Litchfield St., for many years. She was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and a member of the Addolorata Society and the Young At Heart Senior Citizens. Marie is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Angela Lomazzo, of Frankfort, Jean and Phillip Cosentino, of San Jose, CA, and Deborah and Kenneth Slade, of Boynton Beach, FL; one son, Anthony Puzzilla, of La Plata, MD; five grandchildren, Anthony and his wife, Joy Lomazzo, Christina and her husband, Jason White, Mary Jean and her husband, Michael Forman, Jeremy Puzzilla and Kari Cosentino; seven great-grandchildren, Jessica and her husband, Bryce Kendall, Christopher Lomazzo, Anthony Lomazzo and his fiancee, Sidney Hilderbran, Marie White, Fox Forman, Finn Forman and Quinnlan Forman; her sister-in-law, Mercedes Gerardi, of Clearwater, FL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Her funeral will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 AM from the V.J. Surviving are two daughters, Karen Davis of Princeton and Patricia Shelton of Haubstadt; three sons, James E. Jr. of Seymour, Richard F. of Evansville and William G. of Princeton; a brother, Wilford Wilder of Eddyville, Ky; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Colvin Funeral Home, with burial in Augusta Cemetery in Pike County.

James Elmer Slade Jr.1

     James Elmer Slade Jr. was born on May 15, 1925 in Oakland City, Gibson County, Indiana.1 He was the son of James Elmer Slade and Sylvia Jewell Wilder.2
     James married Marion Darlene Dearing on January 24, 1946 in Gibson County, Indiana.3,4 James died on April 17, 2018 in Indianapolis, Indiana, at age 92.5 He was buried in Maple Hill Cemetery, Princeton, Gibson County, Indiana.5 His obituary read as follows:

      James E. Slade, Jr., 92, passed away April 17, 2018, at his home in Indianapolis. Jim and his wife Marion lived in Seymour, IN most of their married lives. He was born May 15, 1925, in Oakland City, IN.

During WWII Sgt. Slade was stationed in England and flew 35 missions over Germany as a waist gunner for the 8th Army Air Force. He served 11 months overseas, earning the E.T.O. Ribbon with five Battle Stars, Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Unit Citation and Good Conduct Medal. He completed 24 Combat Missions.

After returning home to Princeton, he married his high school sweetheart, Marion Darlene Dearing. The two had grown up together in Princeton schools, even attending the same church, St. Mark's Evangelical United Brethren Church.

While working for Capitol Finance in Princeton, Jim was transferred to Seymour, IN, in 1954. He and Marion lived there for 67 years and then retired from Home Federal Savings and Loan in 1988.

After retirement the two enjoyed traveling. They often went to see their only grandchild in Florida and also met annually with the military group until recent years. Jim was the last surviving member of his battalion.

Jim was an active member of Seymour Evangelical United Brethren Church, serving as Sunday School Superintendent and treasurer, and later at Freetown United Methodist Church. He was also active in the Lions Club, the Elks, Jaycees, the American Legion and the VFW.

Besides his wife, Marion, one daughter Jayne Slade-Dashiell and one granddaughter, Kristin Dashiell of Bangkok, Thailand, survive Jim. Other survivors include a daughter-in-law Kay Passailaigue, Charleston, SC; and four siblings: Richard, Cedar Park, TX; Patricia (Jerry) Frohbieter of Haubstadt, IN; William (Raquel), Princeton, IN; Karen (Boyd) Davis, Carmel, IN; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

His parents James E. Slade, Sr. in 1979 and Sylvia Slade in 1999; two children, Bruce in 1960 and Dennis in 2013; and son-in-law Vic Dashiell preceded him in death in 2017.

Funeral services will be at Voss & Sons Funeral Service in Seymour, IN (316 N. Chestnut St.) on Friday at 6 pm with the Rev. David Ison officiating. Visitation will be from 4 pm until time of service. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Princeton, IN at 3 pm Eastern or 2 pm Central time on Saturday with Pastor Kevin Wilson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Freetown United Methodist Church or Paradigm Hospice Foundation, 7520 E. 88th Place, Suite 101; Indianapolis, IN. 46256.6

     Richard married Mary Ann Powell, daughter of Frank Powell and Anna Marie Rust, on February 18, 19552, the daughter of Frank and Anna Marie (Rust) Powell.2 Richard Frederick Slade was living from 1975 to 2009 in Evansville, Indiana.3 He was living in July, 1999 in Evansville, Indiana.4 Richard was widowed when his wife, Mary, died on August 30, 2013 at age 77.2 Richard died on May 24, 2020 in Cedar Park, Texas, at age 88.5 He was buried in St. Joseph Cemetery, Princeton, Gibson County, Indiana.5 His obituary read as follows:
