     John married second Louise Berry.2 John died on November 12, 2004 at age 613 and was buried in Rochester Cemetery, Andrew County, Missouri.4 His obituary read as follows:

      BELTON, Mo. -- John H. Slade, 61, Belton, Mo., formerly of Helena, died Nov. 12, 2004.

John resided in the Kansas City metro area since 1961. He was a mechanic and heavy equipment operator and was employed by American Compressed Steel in Kansas City since 1996.

Born Sept. 2, 1943, in Helena, he attended Savannah R-3 schools. He was a member of the Church of Christ, Belton; Tribe of Mic-O-Say; Boy Scouts; and Operator's Union Local 101.

Preceding him in death was his father, Preston Slade.

Survivors: wife, Louise (Berry) Slade; his mother, Geneva (Harvey) Slade, Helena, Mo; two sons, Michael, Overland Park, Kan., Stephen, Shawnee, Kan; stepson, Charles Barnes, Jr., Raytown, Mo; daughter, Sherry Slade, Overland Park, Kan; stepdaughter, Brenda Adkison, Licking, Mo; brother, R. David Slade, Reston, Va; two grandchildren; and one step-grandchild.
