     Laura V. Tate was born on April 7, 1839 in Platte County, Missouri.^2,3,4 Her parents were Laura and John Tate of Smith County, Virginia.⁴
     Laura married James Madison Slade, son of John S. Slade and Elizabeth Wallace Cartmill, circa 1854.² Laura V. Tate was often called Lucy.² Laura died on August 2, 1910 in Buchanan County, Missouri, at age 71.⁵ She was buried in Mount Mora Cemetery, Saint Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri.⁶

     Perry Fulkerson Slade was born in February, 1859 in Buchanan County, Missouri.¹ He was the son of James Madison Slade and Laura V. Tate.¹
     Perry married Matilda J. Ellingwood, daughter of James Ellingwood and Anna [?], in 1884.³ Perry died on May 21, 1942 at age 83⁴ and was buried in Mount Mora Cemetery, Saint Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri.⁴

     Abigale Melissa Slade was known as Abbie.² She was born on May 19, 1862 in Andrew County, Missouri.¹ She was the daughter of William Washington Preston Slade and Isabel Ann McDonald.³
     Abigale married Leonard D. Fisher on May 4, 1887.¹ [The 1900 census also records a Lizzie Slade, 22, living in this household. She is listed as a cousin, born Jan 1878 in Missouri. It indicates that both of her parents were born in Tennessee. We have not as yet been able to identify a Lizzie or Elizabeth Slade in this extended family who would meet this criteria.].⁴

     Robert Washington Slade was born on January 23, 1864 in Andrew County, Missouri.² He was the son of William Washington Preston Slade and Isabel Ann McDonald.¹
     Robert married Jennie Alden on April 3, 1918 in Denver County, Colorado.² Robert died on November 16, 1922 in Denver, Denver County, Colorado, at age 58.²

     James Alexander Slade was born on January 6, 1861 in Andrew County, Missouri.² He was the son of William Washington Preston Slade and Isabel Ann McDonald.²
     James married Ella Bermond, daughter of George Bermond and Martha J. Castle, on June 29, 1909 in San Antonio, Buchanan County, Missouri.³ His sister, Susie, was living with him in 1930. James died on June 30, 1938 in Buchanan County, Missouri, at age 77⁴ and was buried in Rochester Cemetery, Andrew County, Missouri.⁴

     Matilda J. Ellingwood was born in October, 1861 in Missouri.¹ She was the daughter of James Ellingwood and Anna [?].²
     Matilda married Perry Fulkerson Slade, son of James Madison Slade and Laura V. Tate, in 1884.¹ Matilda J. Ellingwood was known as Mattie.¹ Matilda died in 1961³ and was buried in Mount Mora Cemetery, Saint Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri.³

     Nannie Laura Slade was known as Laura. She was born in October, 1893 in Buchanan County, Missouri.¹ She was the daughter of Perry Fulkerson Slade and Matilda J. Ellingwood.¹
     Nannie married Clarence P Innis on April 7, 1914 in St Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri.²

     Adah Slade was born on June 19, 1861 in Buchanan County, Missouri.^1,3 She was the daughter of James Madison Slade and Laura V. Tate.¹ She never married and was living with her brother Perry until her death. Adah died on May 29, 1923 at age 61³ and was buried in Mount Mora Cemetery, Saint Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri.³

     John H. Slade was known as John W. Slade.² He was born in January, 1870 in Tennessee.^3,1 He was the son of John Wesley Slade and Elizabeth Woods.¹
     John married Mamie E. Ruple, daughter of John Ruple, in 1898 in Missouri.³⁴ John died on August 31, 1927 in City Infirmary, Saint Louis, Saint Louis County, Missouri, at age 57.⁵ He was buried in Flat River, Saint Francois County, Missouri.⁵

     Mamie E. Ruple was born in May, 1880 in Graniteville, Iron County, Missouri.^1,3 She was the daughter of John Ruple.³
     Mamie married John H. Slade, son of John Wesley Slade and Elizabeth Woods, in 1898 in Missouri.¹ Mamie died on June 16, 1916 at age 36³ and was buried in K of P Cemetery, Flat River, Saint Francois County, Missouri.³

     Laura A. Downend was born on April 29, 1861 in Eldora, Hardin County, Iowa.¹ Laura was the daughter of Anna Belle and John Downend. Anna Belle was born in Fickhill, England and John was born in Yorkshire, England. They were married March 26, 1850 and came to America that same summer, settling first in Ohio.¹
     Laura married John T. Slade, son of William Washington Preston Slade and Isabel Ann McDonald, on December 23, 1902 in Eldora, Iowa.¹ Laura died on April 2, 1948 at age 86² and was buried in Rochester Cemetery, Andrew County, Missouri.^1,3

     James Preston Slade was born on April 3, 1904 in Helena, Andrew County, Missouri.¹ He was the son of John T. Slade and Laura A. Downend.¹ James Preston Slade was known as Preston Slade.¹
     James married Geneva Harvey on June 7, 1941 in Andrew County, Missouri.¹ James died on October 31, 1984 at age 80.¹ He was buried in Rochester Cemetery, Andrew County, Missouri.¹

     Geneva Harvey was born on October 6, 1910 in Andrew County, Missouri.¹
     Geneva married James Preston Slade, son of John T. Slade and Laura A. Downend, on June 7, 1941 in Missouri.¹

     John Harvey Slade was born on September 2, 1943 in Helena, Andrew County, Missouri.¹ He was the son of James Preston Slade and Geneva Harvey.¹
     John married Donna Faye Wulf on February 14, 1961.¹
     John married second Louise Berry.² John died on November 12, 2004 at age 61³ and was buried in Rochester Cemetery, Andrew County, Missouri.⁴ His obituary read as follows:

      BELTON, Mo. -- John H. Slade, 61, Belton, Mo., formerly of Helena, died Nov. 12, 2004.

John resided in the Kansas City metro area since 1961. He was a mechanic and heavy equipment operator and was employed by American Compressed Steel in Kansas City since 1996.

Born Sept. 2, 1943, in Helena, he attended Savannah R-3 schools. He was a member of the Church of Christ, Belton; Tribe of Mic-O-Say; Boy Scouts; and Operator's Union Local 101.

Preceding him in death was his father, Preston Slade.

Survivors: wife, Louise (Berry) Slade; his mother, Geneva (Harvey) Slade, Helena, Mo; two sons, Michael, Overland Park, Kan., Stephen, Shawnee, Kan; stepson, Charles Barnes, Jr., Raytown, Mo; daughter, Sherry Slade, Overland Park, Kan; stepdaughter, Brenda Adkison, Licking, Mo; brother, R. David Slade, Reston, Va; two grandchildren; and one step-grandchild.

Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday, Breit & Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah, Mo. Visitation: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of f.²

     John W. Slade was born circa 1846 in Richmond, Virginia.^2,3 He was the son of Bartholomew Slade and Sally W. Murphy.^1,2 He was a resident of Center Point, Texas and was deceased before 1893.⁴
