     Pittman Malcolm Stevens was born in December, 1845 in Indiana and both his parents were born in Indiana, according to 1880 census.² However, the 1900 census indicates he was born in Ohio and his father was born in Pennsylvania and his mother in Ohio.³
     Pittman married Florence Amanda Slade, daughter of James Adkins Slade and Ellen K. Smith, on September 11, 1876.² Pittman died on March 26, 1917 in Polk County, Arkansas, at age 71.⁴

     Martha Elizabeth Adkins was born on October 7, 1854 in Mississippi.^3,4 She was the daughter of William A. Adkins and Amanda C. Epps.⁵ Martha's mother, Amanda, died and her father, William, took Martha and her sister, Lucy, to Missouri where he remarried. William and his second wife Mary raised the girls. William and Mary had several children of their own in Reynolds County, Missouri.⁶

     Martha Elizabeth Adkins married John Wesley Slade, son of James Adkins Slade and Ellen K. Smith, on January 10, 1875 in Lesterville, Reynolds County, Missouri.^3,7 The 1900 census indicates that she was mother of 9 children, of which 6 are living. Martha died on October 6, 1937 at age 82.² She was buried in Masonic Cemetery, Piedmont, Wayne County, Missouri.⁴

     William Addison Slade was born on February 25, 1880 in Reynolds County, Missouri.^2,3 He was the son of John Wesley Slade and Martha Elizabeth Adkins.¹
     William married Emma Keathley in 1908 in Missouri.⁴ William Addison Slade was registered for the military draft in World War I on September 12, 1918 in East St. Louis, Illinois, living at 1541 St. Clair Street.³ Research has thus far been unable to locate William Slade in the 1920 census, however his son, Ernest was found listed as a nephew living with William's brother James E. Slade in Piedmont, Wayne County. William's wife Emma is living in St. Louis with her brother and is listed as single. Apparently, Emma and William are separated, or divorced.⁵ William apparently married again before his death. Dolly Bacon was listed as his wife on his death certificate. Martha Adkins was listed as his mother and John Slade born in Lesterville as his father.⁶ William died on April 23, 1929 in Saint Francois County, Missouri, at age 49 near Farmington.² He was buried in Rowland Woods Cemetery, Patterson, Wayne County, Missouri.^2,7

     Otho Sanders Slade was born on October 20, 1882 in Reynolds County, Missouri.² He was the son of John Wesley Slade and Martha Elizabeth Adkins.¹
     Otho married Bertha Rosella Gurley on November 14, 1906 in Illinois.³ Otho Sanders Slade was registered for the military draft in World War I on September 12, 1918 in Greenville, Wayne County, Missouri.² He resided in Patterson, Wayne County, Missouri, in September, 1918.²
     Otho married second Ida Lee Speer, daughter of William Speer and Rebecca Crownover, on May 22, 1938 in Wayne County, Missouri.³ Otho died on December 15, 1974 at age 92.⁴ He was buried in Masonic Cemetery, Piedmont, Wayne County, Missouri.⁵

     James Ernest Slade was born on July 8, 1885 in Reynolds County, Missouri.¹ He was the son of John Wesley Slade and Martha Elizabeth Adkins.¹
     James married Belle Ratliff on May 22, 1910 in Missouri.² James died in March, 1966 in Desoto, Jefferson County, Missouri, at age 80 [last residence].³

     Herbert Terrel Slade was born on July 20, 1891 in Ellington, Reynolds County, Missouri.² He was the son of John Wesley Slade and Martha Elizabeth Adkins.¹ Herbert Terrel Slade was registered for the military draft in World War I on May 23, 1917 in Loup City, Sherman County, Nebraska.² He was a Civil Engineer with the Interstate Commerce Commission in Kansas City, Missouri.²
     Herbert married Bernice Wickersham circa 1921³, the daughter of Sybil & Milton J Wickersham.⁴ Herbert died in October, 1978 in Saint Petersburg, Pinellas County, Florida, at age 87 [last residence].⁵

     Alice May Slade went by May. She was born in May, 1896 in Reynolds County, Missouri.¹ She was the daughter of John Wesley Slade and Martha Elizabeth Adkins.¹
     Alice married Harry C. Gustin on February 4, 1914 in Missouri.²

     Elizabeth Wallace Cartmill was born in 1790 in Virginia.¹
     Elizabeth married John S. Slade circa 1816 in Botetourt County, Virginia.¹

     William Washington Preston Slade went by Washington.² He was born on August 4, 1825 in Bedford County, Tennessee.^3,4 He was the son of John S. Slade and Elizabeth Wallace Cartmill.¹
     William married Isabel Ann McDonald in 1851.⁵ William died on January 24, 1912 at age 86.³ He was buried in Rochester Cemetery, Andrew County, Missouri.⁵

     Kenneth Anderson Slade was known as Anderson.² He was born in 1829 in Tennessee.¹ He was the son of John S. Slade and Elizabeth Wallace Cartmill.¹
     Kenneth married Harriet Phillips circa 1858.³

     Thomas I. Slade was born in 1831 in Missouri.¹ He was the son of John S. Slade and Elizabeth Wallace Cartmill.¹
     Thomas married Catherine A. Horn.² Thomas died on February 18, 1900 in Lafayette County, Missouri.

     James Madison Slade was born in 1836 in Missouri.¹ He was the son of John S. Slade and Elizabeth Wallace Cartmill.¹
     James married Laura V. Tate circa 1854.³

     Mary A. Slade was born in 1817 in Tennessee.¹ She was the daughter of John S. Slade and Elizabeth Wallace Cartmill.¹ Mary apparently married a Mr. Cartmill, who subsiqently died or divorced. She was listed as Mary A. Cartmill, 33, living in the household of her father in 1850. No further record has been found of her.

     Isabel Ann McDonald was born on March 10, 1826 in Park County, Indiana.^1,2 She was the daughter of Alexander Russell McDonald, born North Carolina and Priscilla Smith, born Virginia.³
     Isabel married William Washington Preston Slade, son of John S. Slade and Elizabeth Wallace Cartmill, in 1851.² Isabel died on March 9, 1899 in Helena, Andrew County, Missouri, at age 72.²

     Tilman Donaldson Slade was born in 1851 in Missouri.² He was the son of William Washington Preston Slade and Isabel Ann McDonald.²
     Tilman married Delina Kier on February 18, 1877 in Missouri.³ She was the daughter of Hannah and Isaac W. Kier.⁴ Tilman Donaldson Slade was killed in a railroad accident on June 26, 1903 in Union Star, DeKalb County, Missouri.³

     Sophia Slade was born on February 14, 1853 in Andrew County, Missouri.^2,3 She was the daughter of William Washington Preston Slade and Isabel Ann McDonald.²
     Sophia married Jacob F. Beeler on October 7, 1870.³ He was the son of Martha and Charles Beeler.³ Their three children were: James W. Beeler, born July 25, 1871, Laura Bell Beeler, born December 25, 1872 and Lula May Beeler.³

     Priscilla Elizabeth Slade was known as Betty.² She was born on December 18, 1854 in Andrew County, Missouri.^1,3 She was the daughter of William Washington Preston Slade and Isabel Ann McDonald.¹
     Priscilla married Albert Wilkerson on December 29, 1880 in Missouri.³

     Mary S. Slade was born on January 30, 1856 in Andrew County, Missouri.^1,2 She was the daughter of William Washington Preston Slade and Isabel Ann McDonald.¹
     Mary married Andrew Jackson Mothersead on November 18, 1885.²

     John T. Slade was born on November 17, 1859 in Helena, Andrew County, Missouri.^1,2 He was the son of William Washington Preston Slade and Isabel Ann McDonald.¹
     John married Laura A. Downend on December 23, 1902 in Eldora, Hardin County, Iowa.² John died on October 26, 1936 at age 76² and was buried in Rochester Cemetery, Andrew County, Missouri.²

     Susan Elvira Slade was known as Susie.³ She was born on December 7, 1857 in Andrew County, Missouri.² She was the daughter of William Washington Preston Slade and Isabel Ann McDonald.¹ She was living with her brother, James Alexander.⁴ Susan died on May 1, 1941 in DeKalb County, Missouri, at age 83⁵ and was buried in Rochester Cemetery, Andrew County, Missouri.⁵

     Elvira Slade was born in 1823 in Tennessee.¹ She was the daughter of John S. Slade and Elizabeth Wallace Cartmill.¹
