Orra S. ''Junior'' Slade, Jr., 77, Richmond, MO, died Friday, September 26, 1997, at Ray County Memorial Hospital, Richmond, MO.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, September 29, at Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond; burial in Richmond Memory Gardens, Richmond, where military graveside services will be conducted by the American Legion Post 237 and the Richmond VFW Post 4398. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Henrietta Methodist Church.
Mr. Slade was born December 3, 1919, in the Sunshine Community in Ray County, MO, to Orra Smith Slade, Sr. and Sophia Louise (Rocklage) Slade. He married Lillie Mae Rowan of Dockery, MO, on June 10, 1947. She preceded him in death on June 18, 1986. He later married Mary Weisz Chrisman of Norborne, MO, on January 26, 1989, she survives of the home.
Mr. Slade was a lifelong farmer. He was a loving father, husband, and grandfather. He had served as a Director on the Sunshine Levy Distric t for over 40 years. He had served as a member of the Henrietta School Board. He was a lifetime Ray County, MO, resident. He was a Methodist.
Mr. Slade was a veteran of WW II having served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He served in the Asiatic Theatre for over three years in India, China, and Burma.5
