     Donald Andrew Slade was born on December 12, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York.1,2,3 He was the son of Andrew Slade and Julia Wells.2
     Donald married Maureen Benson on May 2, 1949 in Brooklyn, Kings County, New York,4, the daughter of Irish Immigrants Catherine J McKeown & John Francis Benson.5,6 Donald died on August 14, 2009 in New Jersey at age 83.7,8 His obituary read as follows:

      Donald Andrew Slade, 83, of Piscataway, N.J., died on Aug. 14, 2009.

Funeral services will begin on Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Rd., Piscataway, N.J. 08854, followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at St. Frances Cabrini Church in Piscataway. Interment will be in the Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway. Visitation hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The son of Andrew and Julia Slade, Donald was born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y..

Donald graduated from John Jay High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marines on March 16, 1944, where he served as a corporal in World War II and as a sergeant in the Korean War.

Donald served in "I" Company (he was part of the rifle platoon), 3rd Battalion, 29th Marine Regiment, 6th Marine Division. While serving, Donald was involved in the Pacific Theatre, where he was stationed in Okinawa, specifically the Ryukyu Islands. He was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart. The 29th Marine Regiment was later awarded the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon as well as the Presidential Unit Citation (which is the highest division award possible) for extraordinary heroism in action against an armed enemy. The degree of heroism required is the same as that which would warrant award of the Navy Cross to an individual.

Donald subsequently served in the Korean War, after which he received an honorable discharge with the rank of sergeant. Later, he was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon for his service in the Marine Corps.

He was a devout Roman Catholic and a longtime parishioner of St. Frances Cabrini Church, Piscataway, N.J., where he served for many years as an usher, and a member of the Holy Name and Nocturnal Adoration societies.

Donald retired in 1993 as an owner/distributor of Coca-Cola, where he worked for over 40 years.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 60 years, Maureen; two daughters, Maureen Slade-Smith and her husband, Lavisse, of Bolingbrook, Ill., and Kathleen Kuhn and her husband, Paul, of Piscataway, N.J; two sons, Michael of Highland Park, N.J., and Kevin of Piscataway, N.J., and five grandchildren, Erin, Brendan, Meghan, Mark and Katrina, whom he loved and cherished very much. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Doris.

Memorial donations to St. Frances Cabrini Church in his name would be greatly appreciated.3

     Andrew Slade was born on December 15, 1895 in Durrell Arm, Notre Dame Bay, Newfoundland.1,2 He was the son of Edward Slade and Johanna "Ann" Chalk.3 Andrew immigrated from from St. John's, Newfoundland, aboard the ship Stephano to Port of New York, New York, on July 11, 1916.4 Andrew immigrated from to Toronto, Peel, Ontario, Canada, in 1918.5 He was a carpenter.5
     Andrew married Julia Wells on January 17, 1922 in Brooklyn, Kings County, New York.6
     Andrew Slade registered for the draft for World War I on1942, while living at Brooklyn, New York, at 834 Eleventh Street.7 Andrew died on November 4, 1969 at age 73.8 He was buried in The Evergreens Cemetery, Brooklyn, Kings County, New York.9

She was a FISH volunteer for many years, a member of the Literacy Volunteer Program and a Girl Scout Leader.Maureen retired from ATandT Corp in 1993 having worked there for 35 years, originally starting her career at New York Telephone.Predeceased by her parents, her husband Donald of 60 years (2009) and her son Michael (2013), she was the last surviving sibling amongst a family of 9 children. Maureen is survived by her daughters, Maureen Slade-Smith, (husband, Lavisse) of Bolingbrook, IL, Kathleen Kuhn (husband, Paul) of Piscataway, and her son, Kevin (fiance, Dorothy) and her five Grandchildren; Erin, Brendan, Meghan, Mark and Katrina whom she loved, spoiled and cherished with all her heart. Memorial donations may be made in her name to St. Frances Cabrini Church.3

     Michael Andrew Slade was born on January 16, 1956 in Brooklyn, Kings County, New York.3 He was the son of Donald Andrew Slade and Maureen Benson.4 Michael Andrew Slade was living in Piscataway, Middlesex County, New Jersey.4 He resided in Highland Park, Middlesex County, New Jersey, on August 14, 2009.1 Michael died on May 8, 2013 in Long Branch, New Jersey, at age 57.4 His obituary read as follows:

      Michael Andrew Slade, 57 of Piscataway, NJ passed away on Wednesday May 8, 2013 at the St. Barnabas Hospice Palliative Care Center in Long Branch, NJ. The son of Donald and Maureen Slade, Michael was born in Brooklyn, NY and was a lifelong resident of Piscataway, NJ. Two of Michael's passions were cooking and watching old-time black and white movies.

Michael graduated from St. Pius X Regional High School in Piscataway and attended St. John's University in Staten Island, NY. He worked with his Father and brother at DASH Distributors, his Father's Coca Cola Distributorship. Michael was an active Parishioner of St. Frances Cabrini Church in Piscataway where he was an Usher and a member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society.

He was predeceased by his Father, Donald A. Slade, Paternal Grandparents Andrew and Julia Slade and Maternal Grandparents, John and Catherine Benson. Surviving are his Mother, Maureen Slade of Piscataway, his two sisters; Maureen Slade-Smith and her husband Lavisse of Bolingbrook, Illinois, Kathleen Kuhn and her husband Paul of Piscataway, and his brother Kevin Slade and his fiancée, Dorothy Bove of Piscataway. Michael was a proud and fun-loving Uncle to his nieces and nephews; Erin, Brendan, Meghan, Mark and Katrina whom he loved and treasured very much.

A visitation will be held Monday from 5 to 8 pm at the Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Rd., Piscataway, NJ 08854. The funeral Mass will be held Tuesday 11:00 am at St. Frances Cabrini Church in Piscataway. Committal will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Michael's name to the St. Barnabas Hospice in Long Branch.4

     Edward Slade was born in 1860 in Taunton, Somerset, England.2,3 He was born circa 1861 in England. He was the son of Edward Slade and Charlotte Stevens.2
     Edward married Johanna "Ann" Chalk, daughter of Abel Chalk and Martha Ann Wellon, on January 3, 1885 in Twillingate, Newfoundland, Canada,4, the daughter of Martha Ann Wellon & Abel Chalk.5 Edward was working as a fishermant with his brother James.6 Edward died in 1906 in Newfoundland. Edward died on June 25, 19067 and was buried in Durrell Cemetery, Twillingate, Notre Dame Bay, Newfoundland.8 His headstone reads:
"Beloved husband of Johannah Slade Asleep in Jesus blessed sleep from which none ever wake to weep, a calm and undisturbed repose unbroken by the last of foes."8

I Ann Slade, of Jenkins Arm, Twillingate South Island, in the Northern District of the Island of Newfoundland, being of sound mind and memory, do make this my last will and testament, in manner and form following, that is to say:- 1. I give devise and bequeath unto my grandsons Paul Slade, Steward Slade, Andrew Slade Edward Ralph Slade (all sons of Edward Slade) and George Stuckless Jr. son of George Stuckless all my property, situated at Jenkins Arm above named, and conveyed to me by the late Elizabeth Wrapson, (now known as Slade’s property) and consisting of land, two out-houses and water-side-premises, to be equally divided amongst them their heirs administrators and assigns for their sole use and benefit forever.
(2) It is hereby understood that the dwelling houses now occupied by the widows of the late James Slade and Edward Slade is not included in the above bequest sec 1; and further it is understood that the widows above named, so long as they occupy these houses are to have unmolested access to and from these houses, and to remove them if they wish to do at any time without hindrance or let And lastly I hereby appoint and constitute Charles White executor of this my last will and testament revoking all other wills by me made.
