On Dec 1, 1894, he removed to Fitchburg, Massachusetts and was employed there by the Telegraph company and the Fire Department.1 Stephen died on September 7, 1905 in Fitchburg, Worcester County, Massachusetts, at age 69.1 He was buried in Slade Cemetery, Cheshire County, New Hampshire.1
