Thomas M. Slade was born on June 3, 1942 in Brooklyn, New York, New York.2 He was the son of Dwight M. Slade and Margaret Morrissey.1

Thomas M. Slade, age 80, of Santa Fe, NM, died Friday, August 19, 2022, at his home, from complications caused by M/S. Mr. Slade was born June 3, 1942, in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Margaret (Morrisey) and Dwight M. Slade. He graduated from Orchard Park High School, Orchard Park, NY and Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, where he received his BA and MA degrees. He finished his studies as a Doctoral Candidate at the University of Chicago.
An architectural historian, Mr. Slade taught architecture at the University of Notre Dame. Ultimately, he worked for the National Trust for Historic Preservation in Washington, D.C., then as the Director of the Pabst Mansion in Milwaukee, WI, and later as the Associate Director of Historic Landmark Foundation, now known as Indiana Landmarks. After his scholarly career, Mr. Slade owned and operated Curley's Cleaners in Indianapolis, IN, leading the company's expansion from 1992 to his retirement in 2007. In 2007, he relocated to New Mexico and moved to Santa Fe where he remarried. He was an avid Bridge player, devoted Episcopalian, serving on the vestry at St. Bede's Episcopal Church, and steadfast volunteer, volunteering alongside his wife at the Wheelwright Museum in Santa Fe.
Mr. Slade was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 31-years, Susan (Richardson) Slade. He is survived by his wife, Flicka (Hultman) Slade of Santa Fe, NM, brother, Charles D. Slade of Albuquerque, NM, and son, William M. Slade and his wife, Elizabeth B. Robinson, of Atlanta, GA.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 1,2022 at 10:30 AM at St. Bede's Episcopal Church. A reception for family and friends, at St. Bede's, will follow.2
