Marian E. Slade, a florist at Hocks Flower Shop in North Tonawanda for 75 years, died Wednesday (Aug. 2, 2000) in Inter-Community Memorial Hospital, Newfane. She was 89.
The former Marian Hock was born in Williamsville, the daughter of the late Louis and Mary Hock. She worked in her family's flower shop for many years and in later years she was self-employed as a florist in Wilson.
Mrs. Slade was very active for 20 years in the ministry of the Jehovah's Witnesses.
She is predeceased by her husband, Harold E., who died in 1998.
Mrs. Slade is survived by two sons, Ronald H. of North Tonawanda and Walter; three daughters, Elaine T. Rokosky and Linda Fritzke, both of North Tonawanda; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in the Jehovah's Witnesses, Ransomville Congregation, 1836 Langdon Road, Ransomville. Burial will be private.
