Mr. Slade, son of the late Arthur D. Slade Sr. and Claire E. Green Slade, was married to Dorothy E. Hicks, daughter of the late Richard C. and Mary Alvina Villeneuve Hicks, Oct. 9, 1937, at the Brownville Methodist Church parsonage with the Rev. Herbert Harrison officiating.
Honor attendants were the late Edith Hunt Penney, sister of the bride, and the late Kenneth Slade, brother of the groom.
The couple owned and operated a dairy farm on Massey Street Road for many years, retiring in 1971 and moving to their current home.
After retiring from farming, Mr. Slade was a bulk milk truck driver and a self-employed carpenter. He has enjoyed woodworking, carpentry and gardening.
Mrs. Slade is a member of the Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church Women and enjoys knitting, crocheting, crafts and gardening and still spends time canning and freezing fruits and vegetables.
The couple are members of the Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church.
They have two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara E. and David Heasley, Watertown, and Marie E. Slade, Adams Center, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.3 Howard died on March 31, 2011 in Adams Center, Jefferson County, New York.2 He was buried in Smithville Cemetery, Jefferson County, New York.2 His obituary read as follows:

Howard Earl Slade, 14014 US Rte 11, Adams Center, died at his home on Thursday, March 31st, 2011 at age 96.
He was born July 9, 1914 in the Town of Henderson near Smithville, NY. He was the son of Arthur Dudley Slade, Sr. and Claire Ellen Green, both of Henderson. He was educated in schools in Smithville and Adams Center.
Mr. Slade was, from his earlier years, a dairy farmer and upon his father's death assumed the responsibility for the operation of the family farm on the Massey St. Road near Shannon Corners at the age of 16. While operating the family farm, Howard drew milk for neighboring farmers as well as raising popcorn and beans to sell. He continued to operate the farm until 1971. Howard then moved to his current address.
After retiring from farming, he was employed as a bulk milk truck driver for Donald Veley of Mannsville for 6 years. He then did general carpentry work for friends, family and others until 1997. Remarkably, Mr. Slade continued to maintain his own home and garden until a year ago.
Mr. Slade was Master of the Smithville Grange in the 1930's, Empire Livestock Committeeman for a number of years and a member of the Town of Adams Assessment Review Board in the 1980's. He was also a lifelong member of the County Cooperative Extension and a Farm Bureau member for years. At the time of his passing and for many years prior, he was a member of the Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church where he performed many improvement projects. Throughout his life he enjoyed gardening, carpentry and woodworking.
Howard married Dorothy Elizabeth Hicks of the Chestnut Ridge Rd., Sackets Harbor on October 9, 1937 at the Brownville United Methodist Parsonage with Rev. Herbert Harrison, officiating.
Besides his wife Dorothy of 73 years, he is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara Elizabeth and David Heasley, Paddy Hill and Marie Elaine Slade, at home. Three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren. A brother, Arthur Slade of Henderson. Nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother Kenneth Slade of Henderson.
The funeral will be Sunday, 3 p.m., April 3rd , at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville with Rev. Mona Fargo and Rev. Leon "Toby" Schilling, officiating. Burial will be in the Slade Family plot in the Smithville Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday (4/3) from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. prior to the funeral.

Mr. Slade, son of the late Arthur and Claire Slade, and C. Sylvia Oberton, daughter of Mrs. Anna Oberton, Watertown, and the late Thomas Oberton, were married Dec. 23, 1950, at the First Methodist Church, Watertown, with the Rev. Barber L. Waters officiating.
Attendants were Marion O'Connor, Felts Mills, sister of the bride, and Howard Slade, Adams Center, brother of the bridegroom.
Mr. and Mrs. Slade are both graduates of Adams Center Central High School.
Mrs. Slade is employed at the Lally Manufacturing Co., Adams.
Mr. Slade served in the Air Force from February 1952 to April 1954. He is employed by the South Jefferson Central School System in the maintenance department. Mr. Slade is a former employee of Agway and Pulaski Sales and Service.
They are members of the Mannsville Manor Volunteer Fire Department and Ladies' Auxiliary, respectively, and of Cable Trail Post 8534, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Lacona. Both enjoy camping. Mr. Slade is also an avid hunter and woodworker.
The couple has six children, Mrs. James (Kathy) Dupre, Watertown, Mrs. Kevin (Diana) Barker, Hilton, Mrs. Scott (Linda) Tait, Erie, Pa., Mrs. James (Debbie) Martin, Saratoga Springs, and Wayne and Timothy, both of Mannsville, and five grandchildren.
