Hartman and Emma Quale, on August 9, 1943 in Rapid City, Pennington County, South Dakota.4,5 Robert died on January 15, 1996 in Watertown, Coddington County, South Dakota, at age 82.6 He was buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, Watertown, Coddington County, South Dakota.7 His obituary read as follows:
Robert Bigelow "Bob" Slade, Jr. age 75, passed away at Midland Memorial Hospital on October 30, 2019. He was born October 22, 1944 in Clearwater Beach, FL to Robert Slade Sr. and Mavis Elaine (Hartman) Slade. Bob married Alma Engle in Las Vegas on December 24, 1979. He was a sales manager.
Bob was a great husband, father and grandfather. He cherished his beloved grandchildren and touched many lives throughout his time here on earth. He was an avid golfer and had traveled the states numerous times, even going as far as to South Africa. He loved to read and had a book with him everywhere he went. He had an amazing sense of humor and could tell a great story. He was an easy going person who loved life.
Those left to cherish his love and memory are his wife: Alma Slade of Fort Worth, TX; two sons: Jason Robert Slade and wife Laura of Lucas, OH and Brett Lee Slade in Dallas, TX; daughter: Jennifer Ann Slade of Wagoner, OK; eight grandchildren: Brittnee, Katie, Hannah, Mia, Robert "Bobby" III, John, Jack, and Rosalie; and one great-grandchild: Everlee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister: Marilyn Day; and his first wife: Barbara (Bowers) Slade.

On the ship's passenger list, his last permanent address was recorded as Silverton, Exeter. His final destination was to see his friend Edwin Jenkins in Lenox, Massachusetts.4,2
