Charles Preston Slade was born on February 19, 1935 in Hattiesburg, Forrest County, Mississippi.1 He was the son of Tally Delmar Slade and Cecile Angelene Schwierjohn.1

Charles Preston Slade , 77, of Houston died January 9, 2013. Charles was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi February 19, 1935 and moved to Texas at the beginning of World War II with his parents Tally and Cecile Schwierjohn Slade and older brother Raymond all of whom have preceded him in death.
He was a 1952 graduate of of Brazosport High School in Freeport, Texas and a 1957 graduate of Southwestern Louisiana Institute where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. He served in the U.S. Army and was a 100% disabled veteran. He spent his working career of 34 years as a purchasing agent for National Supply Division of Armco Steel Corporation.
Charles was the 514th recipient of a heart transplant at Texas Heart institute St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital and a survivor of more than 19 years. He was an avid reader and book collector of leather bound and signed editions. Charles' last years were spent in retirement I the Clear Lake area in Houston where he was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 12 years of marriage Joyce Mikulenka Moore. He is survived by Robert Paul Moore and wife Leah, grandsons Bobby and David, granddaughter Anna, brother-in-law David Mikulenka and longtime companion Calico Cat, Sugar.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 3:00pm Friday, January 11th, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, with visitation one hour prior to the mass, starting at 2:00pm. Interment will be at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church Cemetery in Seneca, Mississippi.1

Houston "Bud" Slade of Kiowa died Jan. 6, 2008. He will be missed by a loving family and many friends.
Bud was senior foreman for the Colorado Department of Transportation for 20 years, until his retirement in 1985. He served during World War II in the U.S. Air Force in the Pacific Theater and was honorably discharged. He moved from the Denver area to Kiowa in 1985.
Bud is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary, who lives in Kiowa at the family home. He is also survived by his children Bill (Vickie) Slade of Lafayette, Gary (Pam) Slade of Elizabeth, Karen Slade of Parker, and Reese (Erica) Slade of Aurora; grandchildren Robyn Slade, Sean Slade, Kyle Slade, Cody Slade, Houston Slade, and Ava Renee Slade; and sister Hattie (Chuck) Grimes of Seabeck, Wash.
He was a member of Majestic View Baptist Church in Kiowa.
Services for Bud were Jan. 14, 2008, at Majestic View Baptist Church in Kiowa. Internment followed at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
