     Effie married Samuel Junius McDaniel, son of Walter J McDaniel and Katherine Nichols, on September 13, 1930.⁵ Effie died on October 16, 1988 at age 80.^1,2,5 She was buried in Fincher Memorial Cemetery, Meansville, Pike County, Georgia.⁶

     Kittie Mae Sappington was born on July 16, 1888 in Georgia.^2,3 She often was called Mae.
     Kittie married Enoch Marvin Slade, son of Samuel Simon Slade and Martha Ann Storey, circa 1912.⁴ Her sister Jessie was living with Mae.⁵ Census excerp.⁶ Kittie died on October 22, 1978 at age 90³ and was buried in Fincher Memorial Cemetery, Meansville, Pike County, Georgia.⁷

     Mary Myrtle Slade went by Myrtle. She was born on November 18, 1915 in Meansville, Pike County, Georgia.^3,4 She was the daughter of Enoch Marvin Slade and Kittie Mae Sappington.¹ Myrtle Slade, Frances & Ruby Reeves and Mary Langford played together.
     Mary married Karl Von Emden McCranie, son of George F. McCranie and Ida Deborah Paulk.² Mary died on November 1, 1976 at age 60.⁵ She was buried in Willacoochee Cemetery, Atkinson County, Georgia.⁵

     Byrd Graham Paylor was born on October 29, 1886 in Smithville, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.^1,2 He was the son of Charles B. Paylor and Lizzie [?].
     Byrd Graham Paylor married Senie Adeale Slade, daughter of Samuel Joseph Slade and Nancy Irene Bruton, on December 23, 1907 in Potter County, Texas.¹ Byrd Graham Paylor was registered for the military draft in World War I on June 5, 1917 in Waco, McLennan County, Texas.³ Byrd died on September 13, 1942 at age 55. He was buried in Restland Memorial Park, Dallas, Dallas County, Texas.⁴

     James Urban Kirkman was born on July 10, 1886 in Denton, Denton County, Texas.²
     James married Annie Slade, daughter of Samuel Joseph Slade and Nancy Irene Bruton, on August 30, 1908 in Potter County, Texas.³ James Urban Kirkman was registered for the military draft in World War I on June 5, 1917 in Hereford, Deaf Smith County, Texas.² James died on January 11, 1955 at age 68.⁴ He was buried in Llano Cemetery, Amarillo, Potter County, Texas.⁴

     Miles Slade was born circa 1792 based on 1810 census that has a male under 16.¹ He was the son of Joshua Slade and Sarah Drewry. It is estimated that Miles was born about 1792 based on 1810 census that has a male under 16. Miles & Amos Slade & William Chappell were witnesses to deed Jan 16, 1817, when Thomas L. Chappell and wife Martha sold Southampton Co. land to Amos Drake. Land bordered Joshua Slade's line.²
     Miles married Disa Turner, daughter of Ephraim Turner and Elizabeth [?] [Turner], on December 21, 1818 in Southampton County, Virginia.³ Miles does not show up on 1830 or any later census or other records that we could find. This would indicate that he may have died between 1820 and 1840.

     Sarah Drewry was born circa 1765 based upon 1810 census.¹
     Sarah married Joshua Slade, son of Samuel Slade and Mary [?]. Sarah was listed as Joshua's wife in an 1801 deed from Samuel Slade, Jr.² Elizabeth Drewry's will dated Oct 18, 1802 leaves her 8 daughters, including Sarah Slade [wife of Joshua], each 1/8th of the remainder of her estate. The will is witnessed by Jethro Slade, Elijah Hasty and Jacob Bradshaw.³ Sarah Drewry is presumed to have died before 1822 as she was not mentioned in Joshua's will.

     Samuel Slade Jr. was born circa 1753 based upon estimated marriage date of his parents and his being at least 21 to be listed on 1782 tax roll. This is somewhat confirmed as he was listed as male older than 45 on the 1810 Southampton census. Samuel was named as Executor of his father's will.^1,2 He was the son of Samuel Slade and Mary [?]. Samuel, Jr. bought 175 acres from John Haisty for 50 pounds. Deed witnessed by Lawrence Joyner, Benjamin Spivey, & Thomas Love.³ On May 12, 1785, Samuel, Jr, bought 100 acres in Southampton County from Samuel Sandeford for 25 pounds.⁴ On July 14, 1785, Samuel Slade Jr. sold 175 acres of land in Southampton County to Hardy Doyell. Witnessed by Edward Fisher, Arthur Bowing, Wm Williams & Carr Doyell.⁵ Samuel Slade Jr. was New Tag 0 white male 16-21, no blacks, 3 cattle in 1787 in Southampton County, Virginia.⁶ He was New Tag 0 white males 16-21, no blacks, 1 horse, 3 cattle in 1787 in Virginia.⁷ Samuel Slade, Jr. sold the last of the property he acquired, Samuel Sandeford's 100 acres to Joseph Vick for 31 pounds, 10 shillings. Total profit from the two purchases and two sales = 60+31+10 rec'd - 50 + 25 pd = 16 pounds 10 shillings profit in Virginia on June 10, 1790.⁸ He was purchased land 100 acres Plantation Messuage.⁹ On February 15, 1801 Joshua Slade bought 105 acres in Southampton County from his brother Samuel, Jr. The deed indicates that Samuel Jr., lived in Nansemond County, Virginia, Upper Parish, at that time and his wife was listed as Littise. Joshua's wife was listed as Sarah.¹⁰ On February 15, 1802 Samuel Slade, Jr. & wife Lettise sold 105 acres in Southampton County to Joshua Slade for $150. Land bordered John Crichlow, Elias Hale, Henry Love, and Joshua's existing property. Witnesses: Nicholas Brister, James Gardner, Lemmy Council. The deed indicates that Samuel, Jr. lived in Nasemond County, Virginia, Upper Parish, at that time.^11,12
     Samuel married [?] Gay, daughter of William Gay, on February 4, 1805 in Virginia Security & witness: Thomas Chappell & Bolton Pierce.¹³ Samuel Slade Jr. apparently died in 1814 in Virginia as an inventory and appraisement of the Estate of Samuel Slade, deceased, was taken January 17, 1815 by William Davis, John Blythe, Jr, Jesse Vick and John Blythe.¹⁴ He (an unknown value) on January 17, 1815 in Virginia.¹⁴

     Editha married Joseph William Slade, son of James William Slade and Lila A. Trussell, on April 29, 1926.² Editha died in February, 1985 at age 81.³ She was buried in Brownwood Cemetery, Sandersville, Washington County, Georgia.⁵

     Lila Dale Slade was born on July 6, 1942 in Warthen, Washington County, Georgia.¹ She was the daughter of Joseph William Slade and Editha Matthews.¹
     Lila married Robert Alford Chapman.¹ Lila died on June 17, 1997 at age 54.² She was buried in Brownwood Cemetery, Sandersville, Washington County, Georgia.³ As of February 14, 2003, the address of Lila Dale Slade was 629 Laurel Drive, Sandersville, Georgia.
