     John William Slade Jr. was born on November 25, 1944 in El Dorado, Union County, Arkansas.1 He was the son of John William Slade and Sarah Matthews. John died on March 4, 2004 in University Hospital, Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas, at age 59.1 His obituary read:

     John William Slade, Jr., 59, of Lake Conway, Mayflower, AR, died after an extended illness at UAMS's University Hospital in Little Rock on March 4, 2004. He was a retired pilot who worked for both commercial airlines and general aviation companies for over 35 years. His passion outside aviation was that of an avid fly fisherman. He was born in El Dorado on November 23, 1944, the son of the late Jack Slade and the late Sara Matthews Slade. He graduated in El Dorado High's Class of 1962. Survivors include his sister, Judy Slade Gaddy, Little Rock; 4 nephews, David Bellew, Jr., Fairfax, VA, Mike Bellew and Chris Bellew, Dallas, TX, and Matthew Bellew, Seattle, WA; and a great-neice and great-nephew of Dallas, TX. A private family memorial service is planned.
