     Services were held Friday in Greenville for Elmer Gene Slade, 74, of Greenville, formerly of Purvis, who died March 10, 2009, in Memphis, Tenn. Burial was in Lakeview Cemetery in Greenville. Mr. Slade owned Gene's Saw Shop in Greenville. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Greenville. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Slade; and his parents, Gary and Thelma Slade.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Swindle Slade of Greenville; two sons, Malcolm Slade of Greenville and Guy Slade of Horn Lake; a daughter, Laura Kaye Rawson of Snellville, Ga; a sister, Sue Farrar of Harriman, Tenn; and eight granddaughters. Smith Funeral Home in Greenville was in charge of arrangements.2

     Elmore Flemion Slade was born in February, 1900 in Marion County, Mississippi.1 He was the son of Flemon Slade and Ophellia Stogner.
     Elmore married Pearl Mae Forehand, daughter of Julius Forehand and Sabra Ann Dobson, say 1933.2 Elmore Flemion Slade was living in June, 1965; at the time of his brother Dedo's death.3 Elmore died on February 28, 1972.4 He was buried in D'Iberville Memorial Park, D'Iberville, Harrison County, Mississippi.5 He was buried in Serenity Gardens Cemetery, North Biloxi, Harrison County, Mississippi.4
