     Hezekiah married Helena Victoria Taylor on February 13, 1829 in Marion County, Mississippi.2 Hezekiah died in 18633 and was buried in Hezekiah Slade Cemetery, Lamar County, Mississippi, off Ed Reid Road on Rock Hill Hunting Club land.4

Six of the sons of Hezekiah Slade fought for the Confederacy during the Civil War.

      Graveside services were held Wednesday at Palm Mortuary in Henderson, Nev., for Hilton L. Slade, 78, of Las Vegas, formerly of Purvis, who died March 31, 2008, at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elta M. Slade; his parents, Johnnie Slade and Brunettie C. Brown Byrd; two brothers, Rev. Jesse V. Slade and Gaston R. Slade. Survivors include five daughters, Glenda Cheramie of Raceland, La., Linda Osborn and Brenda Sullivent, both of Las Vegas, Mary Rowland of Slidell, La., and Patty Slade of Hammond, La; two brothers, William W. Brown Jr. of Petal and Billy L. Brown of Kingsland, Ga; a sister, Glynda F. Munn of Sumrall; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.3
