Julius traveled much in the late 1920s and 1930s as a baseball umpire. In 1935, Skeet pushed a wheelbarrow from Lumberton, Mississippi to Chicago, Illinois, a distance of 1,000 miles. It took him 23 days. He danced from Lumberton to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, a distance of about 24 miles, with dance partner, Miss Etta Boone, in 1940.2,3
