     Melissa Slade was born on February 17, 1888 in Warnerton, Washington Parish, Louisiana.1 She was the daughter of Jesse Byron Slade and Mary Ellen Duncan.1
     Melissa married Daniel Joseph O'Brien in 1902 in Magnolia, Pike County, Mississippi.1 Melissa died on October 8, 1946 in Walthall County, Mississippi, at age 58.1,2 She was buried in Hawpond Cemetery, Walthall County, Mississippi.1
