     William Samuel McSwain was born on August 13, 1901 in Augusta, Perry County, Mississippi.1 He was the son of Robert B. McSwain and Elizabeth S. Slade.
     William married Verdia Lou Askew on September 14, 1924.1 William died on December 20, 1973 in Largo, Pinellas County, Florida, at age 72.1

Marguerite McVay

(22 June 1927 - 4 January 2018)
     Marguerite McVay was born on June 22, 1927 in Carnes, Forrest County, Mississippi.1
     Marguerite married Charles L. Slade, son of Dedo Slade and Laura Lee Elliott, in Brooklyn, Forrest County, Mississippi.1 [WF] was widowed when her husband, Charles, died on November 20, 2009 at age 88.2 Marguerite died on January 4, 2018 at age 90.3 She was buried in Circle S Cemetery, Forrest County, Mississippi.3 Her obituary read as follows:

      Mrs. Marguerite Slade, 90, of Maxie, died January 4, 2018 in Hattiesburg. She was a lifelong member of Sand Hill Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.L. Slade; her parents, Charlie and Eva McVay, brother, Kenny McVay and sister, Helen Griffin.

She is survived by her children, Charlotte Bond of Maxie, Danny Slade (Tracy) of Maxie, David Slade (Barbara) of Maxie, Sandy Slade (Lisa) of Maxie and Pam Waddle of Maxie; eleven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren and one brother, Charles McVay of Carnes.

Services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 8, 2018 at Moore Funeral Service in Wiggins with burial to follow in Circle S Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m., Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Moore Funeral Service in Wiggins.

     John Jehu Mixon was born in 1792 in Effingham County, Georgia.1 He was the son of Jesse Mixon.2
     John married Rebecca Slade, daughter of Samuel Slade Jr. and Matilda Irby, on August 1, 1822 in Marion County, Mississippi.3 John died on October 3, 1855 from an accident that happened at his mill.1

     Mathilda married Julius Orvall Slade, son of Samuel E.
