     George married Matilda Eliza [?] on June 27, 1847 in Southwark, Surrey, England.3,1 George immigrated from to Port of New York, New York, on May 27, 1850.4 He was a machinist.1 George died on March 22, 1903 buried in Riverside Cemetery.5

     Eugene Edward Slade registered for the draft for World War II in June 30, 1942, while living at Norwood, Hamilton County, Ohio, at 2217 Feldman Ave.4
     Eugene married Katherine "Kate" Lewis in 1947.2 Eugene Edward Slade was an electrical engineer and a product planner at General Electric in Plainville, Connecticut.2 Eugene died on September 20, 2003 in Fort Myers, Lee County, Florida, at age 80.2 His obituary read as follows:

      SLADE, Eugene ''Gene'' In loving memory of Eugene ''Gene'' Slade, 80, of Fort Myers, FL, who peacefully passed from this world on Saturday, (September 20, 2003) at the Lodge at Cypress Cove. Born in Norwood OH on May 3, 1923 to Mozelle and Carson Slade, Gene was the star pitcher for the Ohio State Champion Norwood High School baseball team. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during World War II where he served as Technical Sergeant. His war experiences included pitching for the Marine Corps baseball team, working with the Navajo Code Talkers, and surviving many fierce Pacific Theater battles. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Gene went on to a productive and satisfying career at General Electric where he worked as an electrical engineer and a product planner at General Electric in Plainville, CT. At age 58 he retired to Fort Myers, FL, where he enjoyed 20 years of blissful retirement, golfing nearly every day and traveling the world with family and friends. Gene married Katherine ''Kate'' Lewis in 1947. Together they raised three loving children, Michael, Karren, and David. Gene was predeceased by his wife, Kate, and his brother Thomas Slade of Cincinnati, OH. He is survived by his children and their spouses, and by his grandchildren Joshua I, Jessica, Noah, Britta, Seth, Daniel, Catherine and two great-grandchildren, Joshua II and Briannon. Gene endured his failing health with a cheerful, optimistic spirit and unfailing courage and dignity. He was lovingly supported by his family and by the staff of the Lodge at Cypress Cove. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gene's memory can be made to the Handicapped Disabled Veterans, 11110 Caravel Circle, Suite 303, Fort Myers, FL 33908 or the Octagon Wildlife Sanctuary 41660 Horseshoe Rd., Punta Gorda, FL 33892.2

     James Bootwright Slade was born on October 27, 1850 in Richmond, Virginia.2,3 He was the son of Bartholomew Slade and Sally W. Murphy.1 James remained with his mother in Richmond until 1871 after which time he moved to Galveston, Texas, where he was in the employ of his brother-in-law for eight years until he re-located to Rice, Navarro County, Texas and went into the mercantile business with another brother-in-law, J. W. Norris.2
     James married Mina Graham, daughter of Nicolas Graham and Malinda E. Dixon, in 1881 in Navarro County, Texas.2 James died on December 6, 1920 at age 703 and was buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Corsicana, Navarro County, Texas.3

     Harry Baxter Slade was born on December 21, 1924 in Virginia.2,3 He was the son of Joseph Wakeman Slade and Bernice Manala Talbot.3
     Harry married Grace Wiggins circa 19461, the daughter of Ruby Cannon and Dallas Wiggins.4 He had eight grandsons, Andrew, Benjamin, Michael, Nathan, Timothy, Matthew, David and Jacob Slade.1 Harry died on March 20, 2007 in Newport News, Virginia, at age 82. His obituary read as follows:

      NEWPORT NEWS - Harry Baxter Slade, 82, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at James River Convalescent Center. Born in Chester, Va., he had been a Peninsula resident since 1945. Mr. Slade retired from NASA as a Sheet Metal Technician in 1979 after 34 years of service. He served honorably in the United States Coast Guard Reserve for three and a half years during World War II, and the Navy Reserve for five years during the Korean War. He then returned to the Coast Guard Reserve, where he retired as a CWO4 in 1985. He was a 1942 graduate of Smithfield High School, a former volunteer firefighter with the City of Newport News, and a member of North Riverside Baptist Church in Newport News. Mr. Slade was preceded in death by a son, Paul Slade, and his brother, Esby M. Slade. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Grace Wiggins Slade; one son, Allen Slade, and his wife, Mary, of Ringgold, Ga., one brother, Joseph Slade, and his wife, Rose, of Titusville, Fla; his sister- in-law, Betty Slade of Williamsburg; and eight grandsons, Andrew, Benjamin, Michael, Nathan, Timothy, Matthew, David and Jacob Slade. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Saturday, March 24, at Weymouth Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 25, at North Riverside Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Ronald Farrar. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Coast Guard Mutual Assistance, 4200 Wilson Blvd., Suite 610, Arlington, VA 22203. Arrangements are by Weymouth Funeral Home.

     Russell married Jane Elizabeth Mather on March 27, 1943 in Minnesota.2 Russell died on January 18, 2003 in St. Louis Park, St. Louis County, Minnesota, at age 882 and was buried in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota.2,3 His obituary read as follows:

           Russell John Slade, 88, formerly of Virginia and Babbitt, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003.
     

He was born Aug. 28, 1914, to Violet and Samuel Slade in Virginia. Following his graduation from Virginia High School and Virginia Junior College, Russell worked for the Oliver Mining Company prior to entering the grocery business with his father. In 1941, he enlisted in the Army, graduated from Officer Candidate School in Fort Benning, Ga., and served his country until his discharge in 1945. On March 27, 1943, he married Jane Mather, whom he had been dating since junior high school.
     

Bud returned to Virginia and joined his father once again in the grocery business. Together they owned and operated Slades Market. In 1952, Bud and Jane moved to Babbitt, a small pioneer mining community. In Babbitt, Bud and Jane operated Slades Market, the local hardware/gas station. Bud was also postmaster for this small, growing community. He owned and operated the local grocery store for 25 years.
     

Bud and Jane raised five children, 21 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. They enjoyed their life together in Babbitt, Birch Lake, Lake Eshquaguma, Sun City Center, Fla., and most recently in St. Louis Park, Minn.
     

Bud was an avid golfer. His passion for golf was demonstrated by his initiating the creation and construction of the Babbitt Golf Course, in 1964. He enjoyed music, sports of all kinds, and believed every sunset was a beautiful one. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shrine Temple in Virginia. He was a member and served on the board of the Minnesota Retail Grocers Association and the Twin Ports Grocery Company. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. He also served on the board of the First State Bank in Babbitt.
     

He is survived by is loving and devoted wife, Jane; his son, Leonard (Jane) Slade, of Edina, Minn; daughters, Marcia (Richard) Brooke of Maplewood, Minn., Judy (Kent) Nettz of Oregon, Ill., Sherry (Frank) Anderson of Pleasant Grove, Utah, and Betty (Dean) Christensen of Maple Grove; his grandchildren, Lisa (Kent) Schmitz, Greg (Michelle) Vincent, Molly (Tom) Steffen, Jody Slade, Jill (Steve) OToole, Mark (Kari) Slade, Kevin, Janelle and Kelsi Nettz, Anna and Nathan Petric, Justin, Bryce, Erin, Eric, Russell and Sam Anderson, Derek and Carl Christensen; and his great-grandchildren, Tanner, Sydney and Hayden Vincent, Elizabeth, Mark and Abby Schmitz, Jack and Will Steffen, and Caitlin and Calley OToole.2
